So, here it is. The book that reveals all.
Just turn the pages to your own name, and the very day, hour, minute (and cause) of your inevitable demise is printed there for you to ponder.
Do you look?

Me and Nige when I had brown not gray hair
It's Saturday morning and I'm posting minutes after leavingLiverpool for
home.
I'm meeting *Nigel* a gay bes...

Oh yes. One likes to have a decent last supper.
ReplyDeleteGood on ya Brismod. I'd have put serious money on a string of NO's.
ReplyDeleteI should say no but I think curiosity might just get the better of me!
ReplyDeleteNo, because the surprises are what make life so damn fascinating!
ReplyDeleteAnd as a response to brismod, I suppose one could make the argument that every supper should be good enough to be one's last! (I'll have seconds on that cake, thank-you!)
I would not turn the page, because if I had that kind of information running through my head, all the days I had left would be ruined. However, if the date, cause, and time of my death was followed by the numbers of a winning multi-million dollar lottery ticket, then, yeah, I'd look.
ReplyDeleteGood Lord No! I'm with T., every supper should be sublime.
ReplyDeleteAnd once and idea is planted in our simple brains...we head straight for it. Give me the unknown every time...far more opportunities.
The Book of Life? or the registrar's Births, Marriages and Deaths? I look up the Obituaries in the Shropshire Star and if I'm not there I think damn - that's another good day :0)
ReplyDeleteMolly...you're a hoot!
ReplyDeleteMolly, I always loved it on The Shropshire Star 'Funerals' page, when people were written down as 'representing' others. The poor junior journalists who had the job of getting it all right must have had kittens. We still have a laugh about 'representing' today.
ReplyDeleteJaqueline and Cro - me too. It's good to be anti-morbid I think! Just over a year ago, I had a bit of a flu type thing which lasted 5 months and all but creased me up - so much so that neither me nor my family thought I'd ever see the Spring let alone the Summer. But I did and I'm 100% well again. Life is such a precious gift however long or short it is .... and the fantastic bonus is that I've met all you lovely folks as well.
ReplyDeleteFive month Flu? That sounds ghastly and intriguing. Glad to hear you pulled through OK.
ReplyDeleteMolly, you have it wrong. It's US who are privileged to have encountered YOU!
Oh yes Cro...I so second that motion!
ReplyDeleteit's a tricky question, but I think if the book was in front of me I would just have to look, and if no one was watching me I would be looking up the name of someone who had already passed on...just to see if the book was right! Ha!
ReplyDeleteSo true Molly life is a precious gift...I love your sense of fun and it is so wonderful that we all have met here on these pages.
You would probably find that some joker has torn out the last page.
