Today so far.

I popped down to M & S for a few last minute vegs. Even at 8.30am it was heaving.

Our kitchen tiler arrived this morning to measure-up. He's broken his hand BOXING.

About 3 days ago I spotted a new neighbour had left her keys in the front door lock. I knocked on the door and told her. This morning I noticed that she'd done it again, so again I knocked on the door and told her. Silly gal.

I spotted this graffiti on the way back from M & S. I don't usually like this sort of thing, but I do rather like this.

I feel it's going to be a good day. Don't forget to watch Carols from Kings at 6.25 pm on BBC2. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without it.

It will be; I wouldn't have it any other way!

Heaving or heavin' is such a great descriptive English word.

A pugilist one handed tiler doesn't sound so useful.

I used to knock on doors when keys were left in locks, but in our fairly secure building, I no longer bother.

Merry Christmas to you and Lady M.

Does the graffiti say "SHOO!"? Must be a lot of bothersome feral cats in Brighton.

She's probably thinks here's that silly man knocking on my door again. For someone previously living in France and used to to not locking doors I am surprised you bother.

Happy Christmas. It sounds like your are prepared for a festive day and a meal fit for a king. Leaving keys in a door visible to the street seems risky. This invites a break in.

I shan't bother again. Twice warned is enough. Thank you for your good wishes.

For many, I expect that's exactly what they've asked Santa for!

I might pickle some; they're very good in a sweet light-ish brine.

I never try to read graffiti; it usually doesn't make sense anyway.

I did wonder whether she was a country lass; she only moved in a week ago!

If we haven't got it, we ain't having it. I'm not doing any more shopping! Yes, I wouldn't leave the keys in the door here. In France we never, ever, locked our doors, and the car keys were always left in the car.

Thank you Carol. Things can only get better.

Yes. Makes me think of Pirate who when packing the car, leaves the keys in the door so that he doesn't lose them....
Easy done when you are getting the shopping in, keys in the door, take the bags in....
Happy Christmas, and here's hoping for a kinder New year xx

I have watched Carols from Kings for many years - never missed it. It fact it didn't have the same impact this year for some reason - usually it starts off my Christmas but it didn;t tonight.

The singing was perfection. One carol was sung to an alien tune. Wilcox was up to his tricks again with his bizarre arrangements. Otherwise I loved it.

The graffiti certainly is colourful. I hope the lady learns to take her keys in before she gets robbed.
