If it looks like Autumn, feels like Autumn, and smells like Autumn, then it probably is Autumn.
All we need now is the sound of distant hunters' gunfire, and the sight of wood-smoke coming from cottage chimneys, and it'll be confirmed.
We've already had one morning of a chilly 10C, and although we're still swimming every day, it doesn't look too good for the coming month.
Acorns are dropping from the Oak trees, the grass has stopped growing, and Blackberries are everywhere. It won't be long before Chocolate Santas are in the shops, and the upcoming crazy Black Friday (are we allowed to call it that?) will cause people to temporarily loose their minds.
I sense the end of Summer. Temperatures will now struggle to reach 25C.
In fact I love the month of September, it's the month when we all calm down, relax, and enjoy the lower temperatures and more reliable weather. Tourists will go home, Cafés and Restaurants will be quieter, and the roads will be even emptier than they already are.
September=Good.

Well, not all is lost yet. There is, or so I hope, what the English call Indian Summer to look forward to. Or as they say in the Motherland "Altweibersommer", loosely translate "old women's summer" when summer rears its head one more time (late September followed by Goldener Oktober) before the season is finally put to rest.

I like September. Nothing tries too hard, it just ambles along pleasantly with temperatures in the low 20's C, and the occasional misty morning. And only 16 weeks to you-know-what.
October has the capacity to be a grand month.
How about day of colour Friday.
PS. The roads will get quieter here soon. Can't be long till lock down season.
I wonder how many loony Councils will insist on a name change?
In September, I think of "Sweet September Morning" by Buffy Sainte Marie. If you have a spare moment in your busy schedule you can find it online.
Loony councils seem to be on the wane. Plenty of waning yet to be done but it's heading in the right direction.
September is usually a gentle, mellow month before the October gales rip through.
Our temperatures are currently hovering around the 16C nark so noticeably cooler now.

Oh yes, I could have written that last paragraph myself. I did notice yesterday that the roads were a little quieter and temps are down to low 30s.

I'm particularly fond of Lotte Lenya's 'September Song', which I shall probably post here again. I shall look for Ms Sainte Marie; it does ring a bell.
I'm just back from shopping (I forgot my wallet yesterday), and hardly saw a car. Even inside the supermarket it was very quiet.
It's way too soon for chocolate Santas in the shops, but I'll buy them anyway. And eat them.
March is our month, although at times it can still get very hot. Maybe April is better, but then April can be cold and wet.
The ones you buy now are for eating now; the ones you buy after Dec' 15th are for Christmas.
Traditionally our best months are June and September, but this year it's all been a bit unpredictable.
F was born in March in the southern hemisphere and regards that month as the most golden and embracing of months. That is your September and we agrees with you about all the things it represents.

It's a beautiful time of year. Still quite hot today, but it'll cool to a gentle 20-25C, which is perfect.
Are you back to shaking your fist at motorists yet? It seems to have been a long time mending.
We have the 'Water People' digging up our garden again, laying new pipes, and annoying everyone. Thank goodness for the pool.
Leaves are dropping here and friends are out blackberrying.
Broken elbows take ages …. They warned me of that from the beginning ! Still not driving but don’t think it will be too long …. don’t want to sound like a drama Queen but it was a really bad break ! Still have numb fingers but it’s coming back slowly. XXXX
Our temperature s in my part of Ontario are bang on with yours right now. Leaves aren't dropping yet but the maples are changing into their fancy dresses.
It does seem early, but I probably say that every year.
I should have planted some Maples here, they really are spectacular. Lady M's favourite trees too!
