What The.......?

For years I had absolutely no idea what these things above were. I'd always seen them through the windows of women's hair salons, but never really given them a second thought. As far as I was concerned, they were just 'women's things'; something best not talked about.

It was probably just 10 or so years ago when I asked Lady Magnon what they were. She looked at me with despair, and rolled her eyes into that 'what an idiot' mode.

OK, so now I know (they're just hair dryers, right?). But I still don't understand why it's necessary to sit underneath them for half the day.... or do women's hairdressers charge by the hour?

  1. Well they were very elegant and it was the days where women maybe had more time..our local hairdresser has one and occasionally they sit Mum under it but most do blow dries now,get you in and out and fill the chair, in the old days it seemed it took all day to "get a do".times change and I must say I don't think i could have sat still long enough lol.

  2. Are you telling me that these things no longer exist? You can see how out of date I am!

  4. I knew what they were from an early age - my sister was a hair-dresser when I was a kid, and we had one at home!

  5. I have the bills from my mothers hair dresser sent to me. It is a car payment! But she won't leave the house unless the hair is just so. "Oh, what would the ladies at bridge club say".

  6. They still exist in my neck of the woods. It's why women are smarter than men. We get special infusions.

  8. Actually we just tell men that they are hair dryers. In actual fact we receive messages from the home planet through tiny receivers inside the helmets. At least once a month all women are expected to check in and receive their orders.
