Cro Defies Scrump-Death.

Yesterday afternoon I was out scrumping; as one does. Of course we have our own apples trees, but ours are mostly later varieties.

Suddenly there was a creaking sound; then a dreadful rush/crash. This nasty thing fell just inches from me.

Luckily, I'd already managed to fill the front of my T Shirt with apples, before the wretched thing nearly flattened me.... Phew!

  2. My scrumping was sanctioned, Carole. There are so many apples on the ground at the moment that everyone is simply given Carte Blanche! However, one doesn't expect fully laden trees to fall on your head.

  3. Maybe not a good idea to go scrumping in gale force winds. (An apple might have fallen on your head)

  4. Yes is was blowing a tiny bit.

  5. It was God - trying to get you for not believing in him.

  6. Correction: It was God, helping you scrump by bringing the apples down for you, so you could reach them.

  7. Well, could he kindly pop them back up again? He damn-nearly killed me; I'm expecting a decent thunder-bolt for that!

  8. Better stay in doors. The sky is looking a bit dark...

  9. Is that the tree in the middle of the field that the horses run to?

  10. No Sami. It's half way down to Pagot. Almost where the cows are.

  11. I think that tree has been planning this for a loooong time. But look at all those apples! You should make apple butter.

  12. Am I the only one who had to look up "scrumping" in the dictionary?

Scrumped apples taste alot better than those unscrumped. At least in my experience.

  13. T. I've been scrumping all my life, and I'm not going to stop now just because I'm past 35.

  14. I'm glad you weren't hurt Cro...and T. is so right...scrumped apples are the best!

  15. Darn. I missed.

(I've never, ever heard the word "scrump". Quirky. I like.)

  16. Maybe it's just an 'English' English word; I'd never imagined it wasn't used elsewhere.

  17. Phew Cro...dashed close thing. Glad you are still upright and testy about the whole thing.
Will you be distilling a little scrumpy with your scrumped apples?

  18. Jacqueline. I presume the two words are linked somehow. We do make our own cider, but not exactly 'scrumpy'.

  19. No it wasn't Tom - it was Isaac Newton revealing some great scientific secret to Cro alone!

  20. Be careful with that cider Cro! Things can go horribly wrong:
