I'm a bit late with this, but what better way to remember Bambi (Bamber Gascoigne).

I remember my kids watching The Young Ones and loving it, so I watched this and it was sort of funny, but I don't think I'd ever watch more.ReplyDelete
Maybe you'd have to be brought-up with both The Young Ones and University Challenge to really appreciate it.Delete
🤣😂🤣 ….. remember it like it was yesterday ….. they were ( and still are ) so good. So sad Rick died so young ….. RIP Bamber …… a great tribute to him. XXXXReplyDelete
Griff Rhys-Jones does a great job. Bambi must have been proud of him!Delete
Simon Day on the Fast Show did a similar character to Bamber Gascoigne - Gideon Soames. There are some vids on YouTube which are worth a look.ReplyDelete
Simon Day is one of my favourite comics.Delete
Nice reminder of more innocent times.ReplyDelete
You may have been innocent, times were never.Delete
It was thirty eight years ago. Hardly anybody had a home computer and there were no mobile phones or social media. We still did not appreciate how much environmental harm we were doing to our planet. There was no ISIS and the AIDS epidemic was only just taking off.ReplyDelete
Madmen had not flown passenger jets into The Twin Towers and of course there was no COVID pandemic. Refugees were not seeking asylum in inflatable boats. Many visitors to this blog will have lost loved ones in those thirty eight years and we were all younger in 1984. To suggest that they were not more innocent times is simply contrary and silly. Besides, my uncontroversial remark was addressed to Cro Magnon and not to you.
Tut tut Mr Pudding is upset. Calm down and enjoy yourself. Take a walk and say good day to folk and smile. You might find someone sming back at you.Delete
Seem to recall a miners strike and the Falklands war. Funny what you consider innocent.Delete
Keith Blakelock, riots, Libyan Embassy siege. Innocent, no, times were never innocent.Delete
Bamber Gasgoine always got the touch just right, not too heavy, not too light. A great man.ReplyDelete
He was. A quiet genius amongst us.Delete
