Jaques Tati - Mon Oncle (The house)

Classic Tati. Quiet, unassuming, and funny.

That was cute. Lots of daily exercise coming and going for him.

Do you miss France?

I miss France, but not many of the people!!! Our little area has gone downhill terribly recently.

I had never heard of Tati so had to Google him. Regarding "Mon Oncle" - "The plot centres on Mr. Hulot's comedic, quixotic, and childlike struggle with postwar France's obsession with modernity and American-style consumerism..."

Tati is an institution; I'm shocked that you didn't know of him.

I saw Jacques Tati on Parkinson (?) in 1971 performing a small part of 'Trafic'.
Having recently been on a school trip to Paris, it struck home with me, and I was a Tati-fan from then on.
Rowan Atkinson seemed to pinch some ideas for his Mr Bean, but Bean was never as funny as Hulot!

Yes, I'm sure Bean was based on Tati. My favourite Bean sketch was when he painted his room (explosion); it was pure Tati.

Indeed!

Tati is new to me. Lovely. Bean is and always will be enjoyed too.

Lovely watching his head appear and disappear. What a rambling place.

I have heard of Bean of course, but never Tati…..that is a typical Parisian apartment? Holy cow. :D

Tati is very gentle comedy; never raucous or noisy.

A classic Parisian 'chambre de bonne'.

Me too.

Have a look on YouTube; plenty there.

I mentioned him in my blog post on film a few days ago Susan.
