Two things halted my work on the tree house (pirate ship), firstly a torn shoulder muscle, and secondly some foul wet weather. Things are now back to normal, so some progress has been made.

The two stories are now in place (Lady Magnon refused to allow me a third story), and the interconnecting stairway almost finished. At first I berated Lady M's 'elf-n-safety' ruling, but on reflection I think she's right. Standing up on the Cro's nest is probably high (dangerous) enough.

I now have all the safety rails to build, a hammock to string up, a swing to attach, a few 'Jolly Roger' flags to raise, and a 20 metre zip line to install. If I can find some suitable solar lights, I'll put a few of those up too.
I hope the kids will like it. If they don't, I'll put one of our pool loungers up there for my afternoon naps!

Looking good!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe more I see of your place, the more it looks like Heaven! Lovely cold Winters with snow, warm Summers with a pool and a tree house cubby to play in, real seasons - all four of them and none of them lasting too long, fruit trees and vegies growing...! Ahhhhhhhhh !
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! The boys are going to love it.
ReplyDeleteIt's looking splendid, Captain Pugwash, splendid. Does the vessel have a name?
ReplyDeleteIt didn't until you mentioned it. How about HMS Dangerous?
DeleteClever Grandpa! Lucky boys! It is already looking brilliant; so beautifully designed and constructed.
ReplyDeleteSplendid job Cro - the boys will love it - and won't they be delighted when they see it for the first time - I would love to see the look on their faces.
ReplyDeleteOnly another 4 months to wait.
DeleteAnd how about kitting it out with a 'spud gun' aimed at the Orange Wall? They are so easy to make. I know I shouldn't be putting temptation your way...
ReplyDeleteI like hippos idea!! can always blame it on the boys!!
ReplyDeleteYou'll be buying them a train set next... Looks good!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like great fun. Ikea is a great source for solar fairy lights. They also have a large triangular shaped awning/patio cover thing that would make a fabulous sail!
ReplyDeleteI've already got the sail thingy... in taupe. 3 by 3 metres. I'll have a look at their catalogue for the lights; thanks.
Deletethey are going to love it
ReplyDeleteFantastic Cro. Nicely done and I agree - what a lovely place to have a wee snooze in the next few months before the pirate crew arrives.
ReplyDeleteIt really does look like a lot of fun. Wish I had one when I was a kid!
ReplyDeleteThat is the most awesome granddad thing I've ever seen Cro! A surprise pirate ship treehouse--those are some lucky little boys!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could come play too! :)
The grandkids are going to absolutely be in 7th heaven. I agree with Lady M about the safety rails though.
ReplyDeletePlease post a picture of you on the zip line.
ReplyDeleteThis is sublime. I wanted so badly, the same kind of tree house/fort/lair when I was a kid!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! You are a great carpenter.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it!!
