About 30 years ago, I kept finding logs in-amongst my wood pile that looked like torsos/legs. With a small amount of sawing, and a bit of paint, I turned them into what you see below.
I had intended to make them into bedside lamps, but somehow they never got completed and were moved to the back of a shelf.
Lady M recently found them, and brought them out.
As you might see, Woodworm have been enjoying themselves, but I still think I might now finish them. The tiny holes gives them 'character', and we could certainly use some more lamps up at the barn.
I love them …. Remind me of the window displays in old haberdashery shop windows. Drew Pritchard ( the guy who buys antiques on TV’s Salvage Hunters ) ) would pay a fortune for those ! XXXX
ReplyDeleteGoodness! I've never thought of them that way.
DeleteI love them. They would be great in my new garden, when we eventually buy a house.
ReplyDeleteShe put them on a low wall by the pool. They look quite nice there.
DeleteErr, well, yes, I suppose so. Would the switches be on the lamp wires or on the bases themselves?
ReplyDeleteI'm imagined buying ready made lamp 'furniture', with the switches on the wire.
DeleteNot sure I like them - sorry
ReplyDeleteNot everyone's cup of tea, I'm sure.
DeleteI think that the woodworm have indeed added to the character of these sculptural lamp bases. Will you be treating them to prevent further woodworm activity? I think that it is a great project and I hope that you will show pictures of the finished lamps here on this award-winning blog.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'll give them a coat of something. I shall have a look on Tuesday to see if I can find all that I need to make them into lamps.
DeleteThese are wild! I have a dozen or more pieces in a wood pile that'll be a pain in the ass to split, and I may give them a once over to see if I can come up with something so creative. Awesome talent!
ReplyDeleteMore just a bit of fun, I think.
DeleteLove those Cro and they will look excellent as lamps or just lounging around the house.
ReplyDeleteThey're lounging about by the pool at the moment.
DeleteI prefer boxers.
ReplyDeleteU
They don't come boxer-shape.
DeleteThey'd be fun by the pool with a solar light installed. They look like swimming suits.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very good idea!
Deletewoodworm willy.
ReplyDeleteWilly Wonky.
DeleteThe groin areas look a bit odd. Don't think I could live with them in the house.
ReplyDeleteThey came as nature made them.
DeleteDo give the undies a bit of a touch up.
ReplyDeleteI'm still wondering what to do with them.
DeleteAre they tall enough to use as tables alongside a lounger?
