Here are Vincent and Arthur hunting, and eating, and drinking again. We're well into the season when huge flights of Wood Pigeons pass overhead on their way South. The aim of these hunters is to get them to settle on the trees above their Palombière.
I've never seen a Palombière as well kitted out as this one; they seem to lack nothing. These guys are serious hunters, and gourmets, and obviously live very well. It's good to see such traditions being upheld; especially in these strange times.
That is just amazing . Those poor pigeons were just a grande excuse for a gourmet feast. Hell, they even had oysters. The French really know what's important in life
ReplyDeletePs what do the women do?
I have met female hunters, but I think these 'club houses' are probably all-male institutions. They even do their own washing-up. Amazing.
DeleteFirst pukka frost of winter here this morning. 0C.
ReplyDeleteIt would be helpful if those chaps could ditch the French and speak in English. Though I know some French, I find a lot of their conversation impenetrable. Alternatively, you could make an English voice-over for your largely English-speaking visitors.
ReplyDeleteTheir accents are very South-West; not always easy to understand.
DeleteDo they hunt and cook their catch for only the male club members? Very exclusive. Quite the meal with nothing lacking.
ReplyDeleteThey do promote 'banquets' for the whole village too, but they are usually just once a year.
