Les Bastides du Périgord.

Here is a visual tour of some of the 'bastide' villages around my area; most of which are within spitting distance of chez nous. In just 5 mins, it'll give you an idea of what the S W of France is like. You may even think of visiting.

Villefranche du Périgord is my nearest village.

Sorry about the funereal music;... what WERE they thinking!

My pleasure.

I skipped through it with the sound off. Interesting enough.

I liked all the pointy archways ... If I wasn't already kind-of organised for next year, I'd be visiting!

You did right, the sound is dreadful.

The arches very typical of bastides. After all my time here I still love them.

I visited the area several times in the 1970s but have not been back. There seems to be more cars around in the film than I remember ever seeing.

Miss those lovely old towns.

Beautiful, each and every one. France should be proud of their stunning country but, they are not so good when it comes to music 😱 XXXX

Still not that many; it depends on the season. In summer it's quite busy.

I don't visit them enough.

Dreadful music. As for the architecture, I suppose we take it all too much for granted.

Sure is.

Nice villages, shame about the editing.

And the awful 'music'.

Have only been to Paris... and that only for a weekend. But enjoyed the video (turned off the music about a third of the way through).

There's not much left of early Paris. Most of the bastide towns date from around 1270. There's a lovely sense of age here.
