Doing one's Duty.

It is the duty of every grandmother to spoil her grandchildren rotten, to bake mountains of cakes with them, and play endless games of Snakes and Ladders; even when really tired!

Lady Magnon loves her role, and makes the most of it. Her days are filled with children, dogs, and flour. Boo Boo is a big-time consumer; no longer has one activity stopped than he insists on another starting. It is seamless entertainment, only occasionally interrupted with a play-fight or two with Billy.

When Boo Boo was born we all offered possible names. His cousins Harvey J and Ollie suggested 'Chump' and 'Jesus'. He was known as Bunny for a while, but we have now all settled on Boo Boo; thank goodness.

What a nice, bright, little boy.

  1. Lovely photo. Looks as though it is still warm and everyone chez Magnon is happy including Billy.

  2. Well it's been hozing in the Hebrides (and blowing a gale) and belting down in Bishopbriggs. I just have a strange feeling that Boo Boo might find the name a little challenging when he gets to school or becomes Prime Minister.

  3. I am thinking the same as Graham.....has the little fella got a " proper" name as well? I do hope so or school will be a trial for him! ( not to mention his working life)

  5. Lucky you and Lady M! Enjoying Boo Boo's salad days, haha! It reminds me, a little boy in my neighbourhood had the nickname "Boo", too - absolutely everyone knew him by this and the last I saw him, about age 9, even then it was a real struggle to remember his given name. Makes me wonder when/if he managed to reinvent himself !

  7. Grandmothers love their children but adore their grandchildren. That is such a lovely photo of Lady M, Boo Boo, and Billy. You should paint it, Cro.

    1. Yes, the name Bunny didn't last too long. I rather liked it.

  9. I have a cousin who was called Tuppence - Tuppy for short - because he was the second son. Not sure how his family came up with that one.
There's a lot of love in that photo - needs a frame and a place on the sideboard.

    1. When I was very small my people had a friend whose surname was Mr Penny, and his four children were always referred to as 'The Farthings'.

    2. That made me laugh !
ps glad to find that Boo Boo has got a proper name, and a fine one at that ! Never heard of Auriel. Is it a family name? ( 2 of our sons have old family surnames as middle names)
