I noticed yesterday that the Plum trees are in flower. I have no doubt that they will suffer from frost between now and Springtime, meaning that unless they magically re-flower we won't have any Plums this year.
I've also noticed that the buds on the Peach trees are swelling. Disastrous. My fingers are crossed, but I feel it might be in vain (as it so often is).

Do you suffer much from frost down there? Fingers crossed that they will survive. Nothing better than juicy, ripe plums straight from the tree.
It is plum season here in NZ. It does seem mighty early for blossoms.

It does seem early for blossom. I hope the frosts don't do too much damage. I've noticed other people writing about signs of spring in their blogs but I haven't noticed many signs here. Its still warm but a cold blast is coming in at the end of the week. We are going to prune roses and grapes in the next week or so and then I expect a few weeks later to see the buds sprouting.
Lots of frosts to come in France. Fruit buds will die. The Lord will come and the quince will live.
Can you cover them with frost cloth like we have here in Tucson ?

It is dangerously frost free here too Cro and as you say it doesn't bode well for fruit in the coming year.
Very pretty but, as you say, also very early. Let's hope you don't get any frosts.

I've known temperatures down to around -10, but they're rare. Most years we have frosts that are capable of killing plants.
Crazy; and the one I've illustrated usually has bumper crops too. Maybe it'll be OK.
We're supposed to be having 20 C today; it was almost that yesterday.
You forgot my rubbish grapes... they always survive too.
They're too big really, although I suppose it would be possible. I prefer to cross my fingers, and hope.
Some of the trees are not yet in flower, we have several varieties.
I'm pretty sure we will. We can expect frost right up until 'The Ice Saints', who appear on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of May.
Kim is a well known Plum aficionado.
I've been hearing this from all over the northern hemisphere, except eastern Canada where there have been record snowfalls. It is disturbing.
We have buds on trees also and spring temperatures. I love spring, but early February is too early. It makes me concerned about what the temps will be in summer.
