M. Montague-Macbeth Magnon.

Poor old Monty. Only 5 months old and he's already suffered more of his fair share of woes.

Since his encounter with the processionary caterpillar (to which he lost a good part of his tongue), he's now developed a couple of half-tennis-ball sized lumps on his sides, which have been shaved and are being treated with some anti-inflammatory 'horse' balm.

The vet' thinks this could be a reaction to where he was previously given his jabs. Cortizone has strange side-effects.

So, you relax by the pool dear Monty. You deserve a little pampering. We'll bring you your lunch later!

  1. And for my one-man-band, couch-potato, armchair-critic, 'All Lies', sceptic, reader.... Monty really DID try to chew a Processionary Caterpillar, and he really DOES have lumps on his side. I'll have to stop this!

  2. Hello:
It does make us so sad to see Monty [as with all animals] in the wars. It is to be hoped that he will soon be himself once more. Meanwhile he looks pretty comfortable!

Your one-man-band critic has widened his range and we are now, as from last night, subject to his outpourings which accuse us of writing lies. On reflection, we shall not publish his comment which saves the effort of refuting what he says.

  3. Where's the puppy gone? He's getting big. I don't suppose there's any risk that he might get a bit spoilt! I thought he was banned from the pool area? Hope the bumps disappear soon.

  4. He's banned by ME, Sue. But not by Lady M!

  9. I discovered your blog through other blogs where you left comments. I was intrigued by your name - Cro Magnon. And then I saw the picture of your wonderful dog and the things you are working on. I now follow. I would have loved to join you in the glass of bubbly you offered recently.

  11. Oh Monty, Monty, Monty. You are darn cute. But don't eat any more caterpillars, you hear me?! And keep up the good work of getting all that pampering. I'm impressed!

  12. How lucky Monty is to have parents who give him the best medical care available. There are some who wouldn't (sorry to say).

  13. Oh, that poor baby. I had no idea a caterpillar could cause so a pup so much trouble. One of our dogs used to try to eat wasps, which wasn't too bright and usually earned him a swollen lip, but nothing as bad as your poor fella.
