Looking back on it all, I'm actually quite amazed by my own and Lady Magnon's skills. It may look small (it's 4 by 4 metres), but without any scaffolding that roofing work was extremely perilous; something I shan't be in a rush to repeat.
My favourite bit has to be the 'genoise' (the decorative bit between the wall and tiles) which came out exactly as I'd planned. Although I must add that my little 'arrow slit' is also quite dramatic, especially from the inside.
I've had sliding doors fitted at the front to save space, and climbing plants have already begun their work of smothering the whole caboodle in greenery. Update in 5 years time.. or maybe 200.

We are not intending to flatter when we say that the roof of your 'tower' is superb, not least on account of the very elegant curve. To have achieved all without scaffolding is, in our book, amazing. But then we have yet to learn how to hammer in a nail!
Whatever, it is a very attractive addition to the garden and we are certain that you will have much pleasure in its use. Will we be shown the interior?
50. It's been built from scratch. It will become a simple summer overspill bedroom, and (if Lady M has her way) a storage room for rubbish.
H. I might well post a few shots of the interior, but it'll be in a month or more. The curve of the roof was the only thing I got wrong first time round. I had to re-build the lower part of the roof timbers in order to get it 'just right'. A process that held me up for about two days.
Bloody wonderful, Cro. Maybe the next project should be to remove the roof, build on another story and then replace it again?

I've just returned from watching my friend's Land Rover Discovery being pulled out of a hedge by a tractor. He forgot to apply the handbrake, and the strong wind set it moving slowly downhill. It went over a steep bank, across a narrow lane, and down about 300 metres through a ploughed field, before ending up in the hedge. Never a dull moment eh?

It really is amazing, especially when remembering the awful time you had with the roof. You two put in so much hard work, and look at it, it's grand! Can't wait to see pics showing the inside too.

Yep. It's sexy. I get what you mean about the scaffolding thing. It's a bit scary on a ladder trying to get roofs done. But that curve, well. Phwhoar!
