The Eyes Right is most significant here and good on the Commander for ordering the troops thus. A splendid example to all, a young boy showing respect for the army and the army for him. Lovely.
My saluting is generally quite poor so I shall have to practise - following the young lad's example. It will take me a while to get that heel kick right.
So good and the little boy was loving being part of it all and lovely they included him. Bloody freezing here today ... the heating has gone on even though, for some reason, I don’t like putting it on until October ! Blue skies though. XXXX
I refuse to light our fire until October too. It was freezing here this morning; 6 C. Now the sun is shining, and Lady M is about to put our washing on the line (a good sign).
While it may breech protocols, it is a pity none saluted him in return. It reminds me of the boys who run the children's railway in Buda, Hungary, who salute passengers as the train travels through the Buda hills.

Optimistic Cro!
The difference between an optimist and a pessimist, is that the optimist enjoys himself whilst waiting for the inevitable! I AM that optimist!
This is a daily, optimistic, 'photos and comments' blog. I make no judgements (only occasionally), just notes. If you wish to comment in any way at all, please feel free. Everything and everyone (except the obdurate and dictatorial) is very welcome.
I was born just south of London, but for the past 50 years I've lived in S W France. I am a painter by profession, and writer by desire. Lady Magnon and I live between an ancient cottage in a tiny village in perfectly tranquil French countryside, and a bijou townhouse in Brighton UK. In France we have plenty of fruit trees, all situated amongst a view that takes the breath away, in the UK we have a handkerchief sized patio. We also have a Border Collie called Billy. I try to treat our planet with respect, and encourage others to do likewise (without preaching).
Contentment is a glass of red, a plate of charcuterie, and a slice of good country bread. Perfect!

ReplyDeleteIt has a wonderful feeling about it, on all sides. The boy seems very sincere. Well done all.

ReplyDeleteFrom my brief Officer Training days, I remember it was 'longest way up, and shortest way down'.
DeleteOh that was just wonderful. Loved the moment when he yelled 'eyes right'. A lovely start to day
ReplyDeleteDamp day here, so just the job to lift the spirits.
DeleteBrilliant.... and they did an "Eyes Right" for him.....warms your cockles, that does!!
ReplyDeleteIt warms mine every time I look at it.
DeleteI found that really moving. A patriotic young man!
ReplyDeleteI believe he was Belgian, and the marching regiment had served over there during WW2, and saved the day.

ReplyDeleteThe essence here is that Eyes Right is the highest accolade. They did him proud.
DeleteThe officer salutes him whilst calling for an 'Eyes Right', as Rachel says this is the highest accolade.
DeleteSuch a proud young man, I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how short videos, such as this, can be so powerful.
