I received some lovely presents this Christmas, amongst which was a really good quality Umbrella (my last one broke in two), a very swish hamper of goodies, and the above.
Roku is a streaming device which transfers WiFi info from your Modem direct to the TV. I don't suppose that I shall ever use all its facilities, but the one which interests me most is YouTube. Rather than watching certain shows/movies on my small laptop screen, I can now watch them much bigger, and without the interference of adverts, on our TV.
Ain't teknolergy wonderful.

We have a Roku ready TV and YouTube is one of our favorite channels! You're going to love it!
I already do. It's wonderful.
I dislike umbrellas. I wear a rain hat and a raincoat in preference to holding an umbrella over my head.
The only problem I see with umbrellas is that strong wind often accompanies rain. This, as you know, either turns them inside-out, or carries them off to Northern Ireland.
I had not heard of Roku and, on looking it up, it looks quite technical here due to restrictions on viewing various programmes. We watch so little t.v. that I doubt it would be worth it. Rarely watch anything longer than about 5 minutes on You tube. We get a lot of use out of the Wonderboom we bought though.
It's like Google Chrome I think. We bypassed that device with home wifi and a smart tv.
Amazing. Good to have tech savvy children who are up with the latest!
We have more than 100 tv channels and 95 of them are crap.
I like my hands to be free.]
That symbol at the end there isn't meant to be there. I have no idea where it came from.
Echo Gwil's comment, our television must be smart with freeview etc. Got rid of Netflix as it had the same problem as TV.
My not-all-that-new tv has most of those services built in.
I've sent you 2 emails recently which don't seem to have flown. They should arrive one day. I had the same thing happen a week ago.
I wouldn't compare it to Google; it's not a search engine, just offers a few channels that are on the computer rather than TV.
Right! I'm hopeless at keeping up with such things.
I agree, I would say 99% are rubbish.
Netflix is on this Gizmo, but I think I'd have to pay. No thanks.
Ours has just a few UK channels, thanks to Sky.
It looks quite nice. I wouldn't complain.
I have one rule for presents (to myself from anyone) - nothing with a plug on it!
We had some fun with the above as it had an American plug on it!!!
In answer to your last question - yes - but give me that hamper of goodies anytime! Happy New Year.
The hamper is very good, but the 'Roku' will last longer!
We love our Roku TV. We also got the Roku stick to transfer other TVs into streaming devices instead of using expensive cable. It takes some getting use to, but it is saving us money.
I'm not very au fait with all this tech stuff, but I'll get there!
Great prezzie, you'll have great fun with YouTube, telly is such rubbish these days and there's so much interesting stuff on YouTube to watch.
Have heard of it, my gr-kids would know about it.
I already use YouTube for music and documentaries, so to have it full-screen (and with no ad's) is wonderful. You're right about TV, it's been dire over Christmas; we've hardly watched anything.
I get excited about small things.
