Drawing animals is never easy; they always pretend not to understand that simple command "Sit still".
It may not look like it but this 3 year old drawing took me quite a while. It was originally drawn in pencil over a period of several weeks, then when I thought I had everything roughly in the right place, I finished it off with pen.
Unfortunately I recently found it hidden away in a corner, completely ruined by damp and mould.
Ah well, at least I still have the above photo of it (and the dog); and he still looks much the same.
N.B. Poor Monty goes into hospital this morning. He has kidney trouble and will be on a drip for 3 days to flush out his system. He's not eating, he's been sick a lot, and he's looking very miserable. Long term prognosis is not good.

Oh no! Cro, I had no idea Monty was unwell. That's awful news. Is the kidney trouble a chronic condition or something more recent?
I hope his hospital stay makes him feel better and he's soon back home. Poor sweet boy. I wish I could help somehow.
Please keep us updated on his progress.
It has happened over the past 2 weeks. We think he may have eaten some poison, but we're not sure. We'll know more in a few days time. For the moment he's looking very sorry for himself, and vomiting pure yellow bile (excuse the detail).
I'm so sorry to hear this, Cro. Poor Monty...he's so young! Hopefully he'll feel better after his hospital stay. Let us know how he does.

I have a friend who does animal drawings for a living, and human portraits too. For the animals she works entirely from photographs. Good luck Monty.
Oh no, I am sorry to hear that. Poor Monty. What a worry for you and Lady M. It's just awful when your loved animals are suffering. Poor old Bok too, he'll be fretting for his brother.
I probably should have done the same, it would have been much easier, but I have an aversion to copying photos.

Surprisingly, Bok seems quite indifferent. Maybe he's just hiding his emotions.

Lovely drawing Cro - what a pity the original has been ruined. Sorry about his stay in hospital - that is the trouble with having animals isn't it? Their lives are not as long as ours and those who don't care for dogs and/cats never seem able to understand the heartache their illnesses and deaths cause. So good luck Monty - get well soon.

Oh Cro …… I know how hard it is when our animals are unwell. I hope that Monty is back to 100% soon. I bet you and Lady M are really missing him.
….. and, I have always thought that animals don't really work that well when drawn ….. they often look like those paintings you see at the local amateur painting exhibitions !!!! But, rest assured that yours looks brilliant and, I think a simple pencil drawing { or pencil/ pen in your case } works well. It's a shame that it was ruined. I hope that their aren't any more masterpieces decaying in some dark corner or recess of your cottage !!!!

Oh that's not good. If there is one thing I can't stand is seeing animals suffer. Hope the vet can make him better soon.
He's only just 4, and the vet' said it seemed very young for this type of ailment.

My granddaughter's yellow lab (that I look after two days a week) has arthritis and he is only three and a half. Clearly was not a vintage year for yellow labs!
So sorry to hear about Monty. When our gud dugs get sick it always hurts more than when we do.
Hope his age helps him.
My Hamish is going through some of the same problems. Waiting for his long team prognosis and it doesn't look that great.
