More Bloody Mess!

Take a nicely mowed 'lawn', add a few cars, some lorries, and a bloody JCB driver, and this is what you get.

Damn great holes, earth everywhere, and one helluva mess. Oh my god.

I told the boss that I want to make a perfect 'English Lawn', and asked him if he had a machine that could flatten it to Cricket Pitch perfection when they've finished. He assured me he could.....ahem!

In case you're wondering, we're having the fosse septique installed, up at the barn; the gravel-filled ditches will contain the long soak-away pipes.

One always knows that they'll make a bloody awful mess, and this is how they finished the day (below). I'm wondering if we'll be able to offer our pitch to the MCC in the coming months.

Probably NOT!

I now have about a week's work taking out all the surface rocks, and raking it over to Lord's standard. Only when 'perfect' will it be resown.

    1. I've just come in from raking, stone removing, and wheelbarrowing; the bigger picture is looking even bigger.

  2. Well now you will have the perfect lawn. You will be starting from scratch.

    1. The best I can aim for is 'smooth', not 'flat'. It'll be OK, I just want to be able to mow without the mower going in and out of potholes.

  3. Lady Magnon stayed on working (after I gave up), and the levelling's now almost finished. Tomorrow I shall buy a large bag of grass-seed, and sow.

    Well done that Swedish gardener.

  4. You had better get the roller out Cro it will strengthen your muscles and give you great satisfaction.

    1. You're right. I could use a roller right now; we used to have some beauties, now all sadly gone.

  5. Do your drains flow uphill?
They did at one of the houses we viewed when looking for our little place. We didn't buy that one.

    1. We're hoping it'll be liveable-in by NEXT summer. But that may be a bit optimistic.

  7. You may need a load of top soil.

  8. You're not regretting taking on the barn are you? Good job you are still young enough to do all the hard work - rather you than me.
