It's Getting There.
This is pretty much what I'd planned for the 'tower'. Plenty of greenery, a Bacchanalian arch above the entrance gate, and just a few hints that something more interesting may lie beneath.
The back wall is equally verdant, but work is still needed on the front and the far side.
I have two clematis. Montana and Nelly Moser; the easy ones. The pink flowers are actually Lavatera. All very standard fare, as I'm hopeless with flowers.

Optimistic Cro!
The difference between an optimist and a pessimist, is that the optimist enjoys himself whilst waiting for the inevitable! I AM that optimist!
This is a daily, optimistic, 'photos and comments' blog. I make no judgements (only occasionally), just notes. If you wish to comment in any way at all, please feel free. Everything and everyone (except the obdurate and dictatorial) is very welcome.
I was born just south of London, but for the past 50 years I've lived in S W France. I am a painter by profession, and writer by desire. Lady Magnon and I live between an ancient cottage in a tiny village in perfectly tranquil French countryside, and a bijou townhouse in Brighton UK. In France we have plenty of fruit trees, all situated amongst a view that takes the breath away, in the UK we have a handkerchief sized patio. We also have a Border Collie called Billy. I try to treat our planet with respect, and encourage others to do likewise (without preaching).
Contentment is a glass of red, a plate of charcuterie, and a slice of good country bread. Perfect!
It's looking good.
ReplyDeletePicture-book perfect. It's lovely!
ReplyDelete...ditto the first two comments. Looks like you have several different plants which makes it more interesting. Is the blooming one Clematis?

DeleteI'll look up Lavatera. Thanks.
DeleteSame for me with flowers. I did have a Mr. Lincoln rose which bloomed spectacularly for 3-4 years and then died. I think someone shot it.
Lavatera is the perfect non-gardener's plant. All you need is a tiny cutting, it grows like crazy, and flowers all summer.

ReplyDeleteJust lovely. It looks perfect the way it is but I understand the need to keep improving. I can't help tweaking things myself.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely to me.
ReplyDeleteNext year may be better (you think) but this year is fine.
