Those Tomatoes.

On the 15th May, about two weeks before leaving for France, I planted four Tumbler Tomato plants in two wall mounted planters.

The plants have done amazingly well. They are now covered in flowers, and already have a few small Tomatoes forming. You need to look closely at the photo.

These are 'Tumbler' Tomatoes, and as the name suggests they eventually hang down over the sides, and produce plenty of Tomato tresses.

With them already starting to produce fruit, I'm wondering if there'll be anything left in two months time when we return to the UK.

Some of the leaves are looking a bit yellow, I may have to ask someone to feed them.

If you drove over couldn’t you have brought them with you- or are there plant quarantine restrictions.

We hadn't really thought of that. I think it would have been a bit of a palaver.

yes, please, ask someone to feed them. I see the baby tomatoes there :)

They're not in much soil, so feeding them is essential. Otherwise they're looking good.

For years I have been promising myself to plant tomatoes. It has not happened yet.

It would be a shame to let them die.

If you can get these, or something similar, where you are, they are wonderful and produce a huge crop. They only need a medium sized pot.

They are being tended, but they need some Tomato food.

The plants look good with lots of flowers and tiny toms. Are they cherry toms?

They're a bit bigger than the usual Cherry Toms, but not as big as the standard Tom. Medium size.

'Tumbler' tomatoes? Interesting. I just planted about 2 weeks ago 'upside down' tomatoes. They hang upside down and supposedly this way you don't need a trellis. I used cherry tomatoes since I thought the large ones would come off with gravity. I guess time will let us know how this works.

They sound a bit like Tumbler. They hang down rather than climb up. Perfect for wall mounted planters; and very productive too.
