Summer started today.

It was such a perfect day today, so we decided to open the pool.

It's always a tense moment, pulling back the winter cover to see what's underneath. We needn't have worried, it was pretty clean.

Then comes the business of turning on the pump and filter. Again no problems, it started up at once.

The only problem is the temperature of the water. It's 15 C; about 7 degrees less than our minimum swimming tolerance.

We can wait. It's just such a pleasure having it open again. Tomorrow we'll clean everywhere; it needs it.

  2. I have to admit that on the couple of occasions when I've been involved in pool openings things have not gone as smoothly! Enjoy your summer swims.

    1. Only once has it gone really badly. Mice had nested in the electrical box of tricks, and chewed through the wires. Our electrician soon fixed it.

  5. We've had a heat wave here, but the upside to that is that my friend's pool should be warm enough to swim in by this weekend! I ordered a new swimsuit so I'm ready. It's great to have ready access to someone else's pool---all of the fun, none of the work or expense to maintain!

  7. And on the other side of the globe, yesterday I finally pulled out my winter coats! I wonder if Billy will be a bit more relaxed around the pool this year. 14 degrees is mighty brisk. Don't you or he fall in!

    1. I hope he will. It'd be nice to have him sitting with us for our evening aperitifs.
