Character in précis form.
I was amused recently when someone was describing a friend of hers as 'a bitter, and sour-faced old hag'.
"I think I know exactly who you're talking about" I said; and I was spot-on!
It doesn't take many words to describe some of our better known 'celebs'. I'm sure you'll know instantly who I'm talking about below.
Etonian, Bullingdon, buffoon.
Gilded, combover, clown.
Marxist, anti semitic, windbag.
Wee Kranky; the Caledonian.
Fat boy.
The Russian Rambo. I could go on....
We live in an age of such celebrity, when certain people are also simply known by their given names. Donald, Boris, OJ, Amy, Jools, Oprah, etc. There must be thousands of Donalds in the world, but we only think of one (other than the Duck).
As for me, I'm that 'balding, bearded, hermit'.
And you.......?

Boris, don't know, Corbyn, don't know, Kim Jong Un, Putin. Oh, it wasn't a quiz then.
Too easy for a quiz!
With some extra time I scored 3 for the 1st section - more Eurocentric than I can manage...
And who the blazes is Jools? I won't put my guess here for fear of being laughed off the blogosphere.
And now back to the real world.
Alphie
Again you need to be a Brit'. Jools is Jools Holland, a well loved musician.
I know how the locals describe me. Two distinctive words, fat and foreigner, followed by my husbands nickname. No doubt there who they're referring to.
Everyone here has a nickname, some handed from father to father. Helps when a dozen people can have the same name, being all called after grandfathers and grandmothers.
'Woman with the dog' for 13 years but since the opening of our village community café I've transformed to my forename with a few more people!
I wonder how that woman describes her enemies?
A neighbour told me I had a nickname, but refused to tell me what it is... I can only imagine!
Foul-mouthed, fiery, right wing bitch.
That sounds like a compliment to me. If I was known as 'the bloke with the dog' I'd be quite happy.
The person to whom she was referring is actually quite nice.
That sounds like me; other than the 'bitch' bit.
I was going to fit lovable in there somewhere but I didn't want to cause a riot.
I'm surprised you-know-who hasn't thrown her hat into the ring with a few insults; give her time.
She got into a right two and eight over me last week.
I saw.
I find the simple, concise, four-letter word beginning with 'C' covers most people, including myself.
And they're growing in numbers.
"Wee Kranky"....hahaha! Good one!
Aren't they just.
She's a sweetie; and, of course, a pain in the arse.
I am sure some of my neighbors, who do not know me, have names for me also. The fact that I am old, take care of feral cats and grow lots of flowers gives them much to choose from.
We used to have a neighbour called Mrs Old (her real name), so we named her younger neighbour Mrs Not so Old. Everyone has a name!
"The Chicken Lady" - at the pottery studio due to my enjoyment of sculpting my little Cheeky Chickens...
and who knows in the neighborhood ?? since DH and I take care of the feral cats in the area.
Me? In my head I am that slim, attractive, middle aged glamour puss .....until I look in the mirror.
Old Grey Mare - because I am old, grey, and I ain't what I used to be.
Hot cat lady.
Crazy Bird Woman
I know the feeling.
Who lives with the Crazy Fish Man?
That sounds pretty good!
We have two 'old grey mares' who live in a field below our house; they are both charming.
Well, it's good to be known for what you do; it makes you a 'specialist'.
