That Cake.

She can't be left alone in the kitchen.

The last time I saw the cake it had its bare bottom in the air, and was being bathed in Armagnac.

Now I find that she's been playing with it, and just look what she's been up to! There are Robins in a tree, a hand-made marzipan Reindeer (yes, that what it's supposed to be), and a few other unrecognisable creatures. It has become a veritable snowed-in menagerie of animals, snowmen, and Santas.

It was hidden away in a giant Le Creuset dish, where no doubt she'd hoped I wouldn't find it. Ha ha; you can't hide a Christmas cake from Cro; even at night (hence the poor photo)!

Yesterday afternoon, we just had to try a slice. Need I say more.....

It was delicious, with a very pronounced taste of Armagnac.

That looks so pretty! Won't last long now you've started.

Our hope is that it'll all be gone before Christmas, otherwise there'll be far too much in the house to eat. We might explode!

Did you say how many you are feeding at Christmas?

Erm; two!

Looks dark and rich. Who gets to eat Rudolph? Guessed the snowman because of the carrot.

I suspect that Lady M will eat all the edible creatures; that's why she made them.

Oh Cro, you've spoilt the surprise! :)
It looks wonderful. A cake like that are expensive here; they are sold in a confectionery and by weight, so my congratulations to Lady M.
Greetings Maria x

How lucky you both are.

She has become an expert over the years. Another perfect one for 2017.

I think you mean 'how lucky I am'.

The photo is enhanced by the night light.

I probably should have put the flash on. By the time I realised it was a bit dark, we'd already cut into it.

It looks terrific. Who cares what it tastes like, although I am sure it is very nice.

The height of good taste.

It simply tastes of Christmas Cake. Nothing more, nothing less.

I agree. One of the best seasonal treats.

A masterpiece and is almost too beautiful to eat. I am sure you will enjoy it to the very last crumb.

We're just about to have another slice with our afternoon Lapsang.

Lady M's cake looks wonderful .... very retro and reminds me of the Christmas cakes that my mum used to make. Indulge Cro .... it is officially Christmas !!! XXXX

It's not exactly to Fanny Craddock, or Mary Berry decorative standards, but she does her best! However, the taste is wonderful.

The 'poor photo' is charming and adds to the nostalgic look of the cake. Delicious.

Fruit, nuts, Armagnac AND marzipan. You are a very worthy person. And lucky. You must have earned it. You split a lot of wood.

That looks delicious, Cro! And so pretty. I applaud Lady M's talent. But I must say, it was sneaky of you to find and CUT it like that. Naughty Cro.

You can almost SEE the Armanac let alone smell it. I adore the way Lady M has decorated it.

Cro Magnon said...

Sepia tinted almost. It was taken in poor light.

My reward for having been a good boy.

I'm very wicked, but she did have some too. It's quite a big cake so I see it lasting beyond Christmas.

She always likes to give it her 'personal touch'. It wouldn't be the same otherwise.
