Sans Day Carol (Rutter) Ely Cathedral Choir
After 1000 years of being an all-male institution, in 1970 my alma mater decided to admit girls. Of course they soon wanted to do everything that the boys did, and that included becoming choristers.
So, here is the Ely Cathedral Girls Choir (plus a few male lay clerks) singing the beautiful 19th C Cornish 'Saint Day Carol'.
In my day we only had male choristers, but the girls do a fabulous job. Turn down the lights, relax, and enjoy.
Lovely! Very misty here this morning which gave quite a Christmassy backdrop to the video....I listened to it as I looked out of the window. Thank you.
Mild and clear here, but with damp in the air. The Robins are already out looking for crumbs, and I'm just off to our nearby Christmas Fair. Happy Christmas Vera x
Carols - made more beautiful because on the whole we only hear them once or twice a year over the Christmas period. I too shall be watching, and listening to, Carols from Kings.

Optimistic Cro!
The difference between an optimist and a pessimist, is that the optimist enjoys himself whilst waiting for the inevitable! I AM that optimist!
This is a daily, optimistic, 'photos and comments' blog. I make no judgements (only occasionally), just notes. If you wish to comment in any way at all, please feel free. Everything and everyone (except the obdurate and dictatorial) is very welcome.
I was born just south of London, but for the past 50 years I've lived in S W France. I am a painter by profession, and writer by desire. Lady Magnon and I live between an ancient cottage in a tiny village in perfectly tranquil French countryside, and a bijou townhouse in Brighton UK. In France we have plenty of fruit trees, all situated amongst a view that takes the breath away, in the UK we have a handkerchief sized patio. We also have a Border Collie called Billy. I try to treat our planet with respect, and encourage others to do likewise (without preaching).
Contentment is a glass of red, a plate of charcuterie, and a slice of good country bread. Perfect!
Thank you
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased you enjoyed it.
DeleteMerry Christmas Magnons!

ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to Carols from Kings.... I never miss it. The V du Pd fair today was very poor; you're better off in Blighty. Happy Christmas.

ReplyDeleteNo snow here, but I did have a first sip of my winter Single Malt last night. Delicious.
