A diverse offering twixt the interesting, the unusual, and the amusing.
What a lovely summer you are having Cro - good weather, family, friends and lots of joy - I wish it never ends.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria x
Our final lot of Summer guests have now gone, so we're feeling a little lost at the moment. Things will be better when Wills, Kellogg, and Boo Boo return from Italy.
DeleteQuite a raucous evening by the sound of things.
ReplyDeleteFriends from S Africa, Barbados, London, and here. All good fun.
DeleteYou really do have the most interesting friends. I have one who plays the ukulele - does that count as interesting?
ReplyDeleteWe have a friend who plays in a Somerset Ukulele Orchestra.... she's certainly interesting.
DeleteDid the red wine play a part in the performance?
ReplyDeleteI hope so; if it didn't I'm not buying any more!
DeleteGood friend's, food, wine and warm weather ..... what more do we need at our age !!!! You certainly know how to get the best out of life Cro. XXXX
ReplyDeleteWe need to fit in quite a lot during the summer as I find winter rather depressing. We're doing quite well this year.
DeleteOh that song takes me right back to when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteLuis Mariano was my father's absolute favourite.
I'm getting all melancholic now. :'(
It's a great song isn't it, and Philippe did a very good imitation of the original.
DeleteThere is nothing better than sharing wine and song with friends. Having it on a lovely summer evening makes it better.
ReplyDeleteIt was a beautiful evening too.
DeleteSounds like you had a great time. Nothing like a bit of spontaneous and talented singing.
ReplyDeleteI wish I'd known the words; I'd have joined him. But we did all sing the 'Mexico Mexico' bit, with the high notes. What a choir!
DeleteAh the good life. We've folk visiting this weekend, I might give them my rendition of Billy Cotton's whelk song. All together now, "if you don't want the whelks don't muck 'em abhat".
ReplyDeleteJean
When I was about 14 we spent our Summer holidays on the Italian Riviera at Alassio. When we arrived there were huge posters everywhere advertising Billy Cotton's Band Show. We couldn't believe our eyes!
DeleteHeavens Cro., we used to go to Diano Marina - just down the road !
DeleteI don't think I've previously heard of, or heard, Luis Mariano, but enjoyed the introduction. Your dinner sounds delightful.
ReplyDeleteYour mention of a cheese course reminds me of an odd business news story I heard yesterday. It seems that the States now have a cheese surplus which may, or may not, lower cheese prices over here. I do like domestic cheddar, but the other cheeses I buy are usually from another part of the world. I'll have to have a chat with the man in the grocery's cheese department and get his opinion of domestic cheese I've been ignoring...and whether their prices are going lower. Not likely.
Best wishes.
Cheese is very important over here, and the variety is huge. I still have several hundred to taste.
DeleteI guess it was a chilly evening if you have your Barbour on in the middle of summer. Great photo of you.
ReplyDeleteLOL...good song. Thanks for the smile this morning !
