There was a man in my supermarket checkout queue recently, who had an arm very similar, but much worse, to the above.
I wanted to ask him if he was a chef, but he rushed off. I'm certain he was.
Chefs wear their arm burns with pride; just a hazard of the job.
Mine above are the result of a recent Pizza night; getting the blighters in and out of the oven is perilous.
Ouch, oven burns hurt.
ReplyDeleteI suffer in silence.
DeleteHope you had the Acriflex handy.
ReplyDeleteI didn't bother, they were only small.
DeleteYou need one of those flat wooden plates on a long stick!
ReplyDeleteI've got one, but the handle isn't long enough.
DeleteThe oven burns are on the top of my arms; the iron catches my arms on the underside. Just clumsy I guess.
ReplyDeleteJoin the club!
DeleteI'm hopeless as I can never be bothered to use oven gloves, just use a tea towel and am always burning myself ... As you say Cro, the sign of a top chef !!!!! XXXX
ReplyDeleteBattle scars.
DeleteI have the same burns every time i use the oven.
ReplyDeleteWe all need arm protectors; or bigger ovens.
DeleteMe too Yael. I have iron burns as well, I never learn!
DeleteGreetings Maria x
I have never burned my arms but my fingers have taken the heat many time. Oh, how that hurts.
ReplyDeleteYes, not very pleasant.
DeleteI find that Aga owners tend to get burns on their wrists from taking things in and out of the oven. However hard I try I still get them now and again.
ReplyDeleteI think anyone who uses a low down oven is bound to get small burns occasionally. Chefs certainly do.
DeleteIt's always such a surprise to get a kitchen burn. I rarely get burned, so don't always react quickly enough to keep the damage minor.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to investigate what Acriflex. Thanks, Rachel.
Best wishes.
I made two Pizzas, that's why I have two burns. Acriflex is a burns cream.
DeleteBetter to have oven burns than fryer burns; those are the dickens... both to get and to heal.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a fryer, but my daughter was telling me recently about her 'Air Fryer' which sounds good; I might buy one.
DeleteAny burn is bad. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI have cactus very fine stickers all over my arms and legs right now and I was very careful ! They hurt like the devil.
cheers, parsnip and thehamish
Strangely, these burns did hurt a bit when they happened, then I forgot about them completely; until I noticed the scars two days later.
