Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers - Why Do Fools Fall In Love

Nothing much to say about this.

Poor Frankie died in 1968 at the age of 25, from a heroin overdose. The curse of fame!

Best to fast forward to 2 mins 20, there's a tedious interview before they start singing.

I hope you enjoyed it.

I enjoyed waking up to this. Fame is not always fun. Many singers died of drug or alcohol abuse: Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison etc. But then there are evidence of the exceptions and who are still alive today: Ozzy Osbourn, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney.
Greetings Maria x

There are a lot alive today who (by normal standards) shouldn't be. Most of The Stones, for example.

More by luck than judgement, Maria.

I havent listened to this, my attention span wont cover it.

I'm sure you know the song anyway, and if you listened to it you'd be humming it all day.

I was about 9 or 10 at the time and I remember every word of the song....now where are my keys?

Cro Magnon said...

Amazing to think that he wrote it aged 13.

Damn it, I've been humming this all day.

Me too.

I remember this singer and tune very well, going back to my own teenage years. I'll come back later to play the video...I can already sing the song (not entirely in tune) from memory.

Thank you for planting the seed.

Most of us 'of a certain age' will remember the song; and the words.

The curse of fame indeed. And yes, I remember the song and the words.

It was an 'anthem' of its time.

Indeed it was. Memories of teenage years.
