What can you do when it's so HOT.
Get up early (I always do anyway), try to get all tasks completed before about 9 am, have a swim, maybe have some slices of cold melon and a peach for lunch, siesta, swim again, watch The Tour de France, swim again, at 6 pm have a glass of wine and a few olives by the pool, swim again, throw something on the BBQ, relax as it cools slightly, bed.
Oh;..... and Lady Magnon wears espadrilles.

The Good Life.
I've been up since 2 am. I couldn't sleep, and then I had a visit from a Mosquito.
Well it looks and sounds good. Not for me though as anything above about 27 is too hot for me.

We here in Tucson have to get every outside chores done by 9 or 10 also. Then back inside for the rest of the day. Too hot even to swim until the sunscreen goes back over the pool. 100 to 115 is hot and sunny.

Espadrilles...her Ladyship has very narrow feet then!
I can't wear them at all... Merrell sandals for me...
And I've been up since just afore 6...raking grass as the dawn broke ready to spread hay!
I've just been out with the dog and the temperature is perfect. It's going to be hot again, so I shall repeat the above from now on.
I used to wear them myself, but always found the top bit far too tight.
25 C is my perfect temperature. It'll probably be at least 10 degrees more than that today.

Bok looks very laid back and contented with his lot.
Out at first light (6:30 a.m.), here too, for our early morning dog walk - the only cool part of the day. Mid 30ºC's by lunchtime, and hotter still by late afternoon.
Tomorrow I believe will be the hottest, no doubt storms will be looming.
Hot here and a hot night. I slept like a log.
I am looking forward to a bloody hot day.
I might spend the whole day in the pool.

Guess what ? It's going to be 30c today here in Herts and 32 tomorrow ..... Hurrah!! I shall have the roof down on the car when I meet my oldest friend in the country pub today ...... We sit there for hours. When we leave, we always say that we could have flown to New York in the hours we have sat and chatted !!!!!!!
I had a pair of espadrilles years ago when they first came out. They were made differently then and, if you were wearing them when it rained, they sucked up so much water and became so heavy that you couldn't lift your feet up !!!!!!!!

He's not a very enthusiastic swimmer. We could hardly keep Monty out of water, but he was banned from the pool.
Lady M always buys about 4 pairs for the Summer.... they don't last. Nowadays they have a thin coat of rubber on the soles, probably because of what you mention.
I think that if I get The Husband into espadrilles then it would be the sign of him finally going native. So far he is holding out!

I rose at 4am because it was too hot to sleep. Today the farmer has gone off to haymake so fingers crossed the weather stays right until he has got it in, otherwise wilage again.
All that swimming sounds fab. I would love a pool but wouldn't get much use from it in Blighty. We have a public heated outdoor pool a short drive from here in Hathersage, which we plan to try out very soon. Love an espadrille btw.

30 degrees here now. Lovely. Just having lunch. A woman complained to me about the heat.. there's no pleasing some people.
I've just attempted a little siesta, but it didn't happen. More swimming methinks.
The pool is perfectly positioned just outside my studio. Yes, I love espadrilles too, it's usually me who buys them for Lady M.
People are always moaning about the heat; they're probably the same people who moan about the cold in winter too.
We had lunch outside on the terrace but have crept indoors now into the cool, shuttered rooms. The Tour calls.
I keep throwing myself into water, but at about 29 C it's not really doing what's desired. I think I'll watch the Tour too (in a darkened room).
Your day plan sounds perfect to me.
I'm another espadrille fan, but for the past few years have been buying a similar type of canvass shoe made by Toms. Maybe I will wear my purplish pink Toms today when I meet a friend over at the Met to see an Indian watercolor show. It will be very cool in the museum.
I recently read a mosquito bite tip. Run a metal spoon under hot water to heat the spoon, then gently hold the back of the spoon's bowl on the bite, for a few minutes. Apparently, it will take away the itcy sting. I've not tried this yet myself.

I've spent four hours cleaning two houses. So long as it's dry heat and I drink enough I can get through it. Have to slow down from my normal scalded cat pace though! Arilx

I've been to Caribbean countries where the humidity was appalling. Here it's not too bad, but like you I much prefer dry heat.
A tip we learned in New Zealand - dig your fingernail into the "dome" of the bite and press down really hard, so that the bite resembles a slot-headed screw. Sounds crazy, but it works every time for me !

The post I referred to was the one before the last, ie "Comments". Ignore it. Just found myself vaguely irritated after, three times in a row, trying to leave comments on blogspot users,I had to identify shopfronts, lakes, rivers, mountains and soon, no doubt, the identity of people wearing veils or other masking head gear.
