Yesterday was Lundi de Pentecôte (whatever that is!); any excuse for a good old Boot Sale.
At first light (8.30am) we drove down to Duravel, a small village about 20 kms away. Above is the stunning view of the Lot Valley, as one descends down into the village itself.
I didn't bother to take any pix of the market, as they're all pretty much alike. However, I did particularly like this entrance to a garden, with its house in the background. A typical scene from our area. Nice eh?
There were a few other delights that I'd liked to have photographed, but the road was so narrow that stopping was out of the question.

Now if that was in the UK, all the neighbours would be up in arms because that gate definitely needs a coat of high gloss Dulux paint......

Only some Strawberries. We were tempted by some old ironwork, but it was expensive.

Decay is appreciated in mainland Europe; especially in Italy. It's despised in the UK.

We had a garden themed manifestation.
I bought two metal birds and ate an Acasia flavoured cake and a mure sorbet in a cone. Lovely day and the last 'Bank Holiday' of May. Pentecost - a few weeks after Easter and something to do with the Holy Ghost.
Our village had its annual 'Country Fair' on Sunday. Lots of Horses, old Tractors, and motor bikes. We didn't go; it's the same every year!
Definitely - it's a major part of the charm in most of Mediterranean countries.

The road to Duravel looks just as I would imagine the French countryside. I can just about hear some birdsong.
Did you perhaps have a light lunch after inspecting the boot sale before you returned home?
When I was young and studying French, I was enamored with the culture and architecture of Paris. Thought that's where I'd like to visit someday. I was wrong. I think I'd much rather visit your part of the country. Just beautiful.

Enchanting. Who hasn't passed by a gate like that and wondered what was behind it? Sounds like you had a fun day.
We'd finished by about 9.30am, so no we went home for lunch. It's not the best picture of the view; I had difficulty stopping on the windy road. It really is beautiful.
This area is probably the best in the whole of France for its architecture.

And we bumped into friends whilst there. A perfect morning.
