As I replied to Joanne, above, I suspect that he's bemused by the fact that he was actually elected to his position, and he's desperately trying to look as if he warranted it. He often seems to be pretending to look the part by being pompous and bad tempered.

Our politicians manifest themselves in poor ways and may not make such easy footage to put together but they amount to the same thing.
I'm not sure that the UK has comedians of this high caliber.
As I said, they may not manifest so clearly but they are all the same. We have a whole House of Commons of them supposedly representing us.
