Cro Goes Robotic.

In my never-ending quest for labour-saving devices, I have finally given-in to the concept of robotic pool cleaning.

I wanted one that simply connects to the existing vacuum system, then would do all the work by itself. Known as 'Hydraulic Robots', they just plug in and start working as soon as the pool's circulatory pumping system starts up.

For pool aficionados only; it's a reasonably modest Zodiac T3.

It won't stay in the pool for too long, with 4 grandsons under the age of 9 turning up any day (2 arrive today), it'll be stored out of the reach of small inquiring hands. It also impinges slightly on the swimming area.

Anyway, it seems to do the job OK.

Oh, and did I not mention? The bloody thing came IN BITS, and had to be assembled... AAAAAGH.

  1. Don't come crying to me when that thing stands up on its hose and begins flailing around the terrace, eating people.

  2. You can get ones which cut the grass too, but I wouldn't trust them after I tested a floor-cleaning version at our local hardware shop. The assistant started it up and it made it's way straight toward me and bashed into my feet.

  4. It is no secret I'm a huge fan of technology. I applaud you buying this contraption despite its ability to cannibalize if Ian is correct. Perhaps you can feed it your enemies if you have any. If not you can always use it to threaten people who buy restaurants and then close them.

Looks like you have developed superb assembly skills. I guess the old adage is true - practice makes perfect.

Your pool and the water look spectacular so either you or the robot is doing a fine job.

    1. I think it's the robot. It shudders as it moves around, releasing the dirt from the bottom and sucking it up. Quite clever, although it still has to find its way around the whole area.

  5. We call them Creepy Crawlies here. The floating hose provides and ideal haven for errant frogs, I found, making them easy to scoop out with the net.

  6. Maybe you could send it over the 'big ugly wall' after your neighbours.

    1. They have a big flashy expensive robot in their pool... at least the wretched wall prevents us from becoming jealous.

  7. It seems like all the parts were included in the box. More often than not, an assembly means a trip to the hardware store to get a missing screw or washer.

It sounds like you will have a busy week with the grandchildren arriving. I bet you can't wait to show them the new treehouse. Enjoy and make wonderful memories with your beautiful boys.

  8. Ooh.....we had one of those growing up and it looked like an octopus flailing around in the pool...it was fun to put on goggles and swim underwater around it pretending to be great ocean explorers.

    Have fun with the boys!

  9. What joy...grandsons in the pool! I have one grandson ( 10 months) but I don't have a pool!

  10. HA! More fun assembling something, eh? That's okay. That sort of think keeps your mind sharp. (Probably your tongue, too.)
