I have to admit that I do love wearing shorts. However, with my pasty-looking over-wintered legs, I shall resist until I arrive in France this Summer. Then it'll be shorts-only for several months
When I return in September, I shall be wearing shorts until my kneecaps begin to turn blue.
A lot of men wear shorts all year round here in Brighton; it seems to be not only a fool-hardy fashion, but also a demonstration of bravery/virility. Kimbo only brings his out (above) when the temperature reaches 20 C (he had been playing tennis with his youngest).
I've been out in the car this morning (yesterday) and I was amazed by the number of people in shorts. I can assure you that I was in a tiny minority in my longs.
There is something very pleasant about wearing shorts; having one's legs open to the air is very invigorating. If I had nice bronzed legs I would be wearing mine now. As it is, I shall have to wait another month or so. Yes, I am self-conscious!
Shorts are very popular here of course but not yet with the natives.
ReplyDeleteIt needs to be slightly more than 20o.
Your Kimbo is still wearing long sleeves I notice. He's hardy but not quite too hardy
23 C here today. I might even bare my legs today in the privacy of our tiny garden.
DeleteI'm past caring what I look like so it's into knee length shorts that look like a skirt as soon as it's warm enough which was this week.
ReplyDeleteI'm quite self conscious. I shouldn't be at my age.
DeleteThe weather here in London, made me glad I packed shorts for the trip.
ReplyDeleteIt's like high Summer. I'm just back from my early morning walk and it's already warm. Most men are in shorts, of course!
DeleteThey go around in shorts here too, no matter what the weather, usually it's weekenders. We quite often see purple legs and knees in the freezing cold winds here. Why do they do it, what are they trying to prove? Us locals know better, we wear winter clothes until at least the middle of May!
ReplyDeleteDo your postmen wear shorts all year round? I've never understood why they do it, but down here they all do!
DeleteLove shorts and sandals weather. Sadly in NZ,it is time to wear jeans and boots now. You let your knees be free, who cares - no one's looking.
ReplyDeleteI know I should, but somehow.....
DeleteFor raw pastry-coloured legs, I recommend "Kwik Tan" on St James's Road, Brighton. You will come away with legs the colour of Donald Trump's face and so you will be able to wear your skimpiest shorts with confidence.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed that no-one has developed a quick-tan PILL. It must be possible. I would buy one!!!
DeleteTanning pills have been around for many years.
DeleteI've seen 'enhancing' pills, but I've not seen any actual tanning pills. I must make enquiries.
DeleteJust put your shorts on. As somebody else said, nobody is actually going to be looking at you.
DeleteI shall sit on the patio.
DeleteIf you sit outside in the sunshine, you'll be tan in no time.
ReplyDeleteThe weather is not quite warm enough for shorts for me. I like shorts when it is nice and warm, 75-80 degrees F is about right for me.
It's 23 C here this afternoon. On our local TV news they even showed people swimming in the sea!
DeleteNothing beats shorts and sandals, I hope to wear both from now on until September.
ReplyDeleteI usually wear mine into October.
DeleteI have psoriasis I wish I could wear shorts
ReplyDeleteI just have anxiety.
