I don't know what you think about buying second-hand clothes, but I, personally, had never considered it an option.
I've fancied buying myself an England Rugby shirt for years, but never found the exact one I wanted. So I decided to look on 'Vinted'; and there it was, in my size, the colour I wanted (dark navy), and a top quality shirt too.
New they cost about £45, mine cost £10. It's as good as new, it arrived clean and recently washed, and it fitted me perfectly. Maybe I was just lucky.
I don't think I shall make a habit of buying like this, but I really didn't have much to lose. I could always have returned it too.
The shirt is from a top quality maker, so I was reasonably sure it would be what I wanted; and it was!
I think I had a BARGAIN!
A large number of my clothes are from charity shops. Your shirt looks good. Is it for wearing when you go to watch England play or for going "down the pub"?
ReplyDeleteGeneral day to day wear. It's comfortable and warm. 'Down the Pub' would be fine too!
DeleteI find that even charity shops, at least in my area which is a bit up-market, are becoming overly expensive so I don't bother going any more. I don't buy a lot of clothes as it is but if I need anything I usually make it myself. I think the only thing I bought new about 3 years ago were 3 pairs of jeans, they'll keep me going until I kick it!
ReplyDeleteEverything I buy these days is with 'life expectancy' built-in. Even my car should see me out!
DeleteSome years ago I looked in my wardrobe and it occurred to me that I probably will never have to buy any clothes again. I have just laid a shirt to rest because a cuff had frayed. There's another wardrobe full to go! Looking back I have absolutely no idea why I bought so many.
ReplyDeleteI have huge amounts of brand new socks and T shirts in reserve. I also have two sets of clothes; one in France and another here! I'm sure I have far too much.
Delete'Once loved' clothes can be great bargains, like yours. Buying online you really have to check sizes. I used to get clothes from ebay. Till Brexit, now we pay too much tax when they come in from out of Europe. I got some real nice clothes.
ReplyDeleteYour shirt sounds excellent.
It's exactly what I wanted, and it's excellent quality; what more could one ask for!
DeleteI have no problem with occasionally buying secondhand clothes. Apart from anything else it's a type of recycling - being kinder to our planet. I don't know how to say this Crozier but even though you now have a smart England rugby shirt, I doubt that Steve Borthwick will select you any time soon.
ReplyDeleteI can but dream. No, my playing days are over, but I can still pretend.
Delete"And it's Magnon! He sidesteps Dupont and hands off Ramos. The Twickenham crowd are going wild. He's surging for the line. It's there! Try for Crozier Magnon! England's saviour right at the death!"
DeleteAh..... if only!
DeleteI always used to buy mens shirts from charity shops for my partner, John. This was because they had a more generous cut, and were longer in length than new shirts.
ReplyDeleteGood thinking! Yes, men's shirts are 'minimalist' these days. A good one costs a fortune.
DeleteLooks great, enjoy wearing it. All clothes are used, after we wear them once.
ReplyDeleteQuite right. That's a better way of looking a it.
DeleteYou got a real bargain and exactly what you wanted. Nice buy.
ReplyDeleteI was probably quite 'lucky' too. One never knows.
DeleteShopping for second hand clothes can be very rewarding - and leave more to spend on pate and mushrooms.
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing it at the moment. It's perfect.
