My phone

Everyone has a mobile phone these days, and I am no different.

My iPhone was a 'cast-off'; I think it was originally Lady M's. She upgraded.

I'm not really a Scrooge, but I don't like wasting money if I can help it. So, even though my phone has no Sim Card it does everything I need, for FREE!

I'm not the type of person who goes everywhere with his nose glued to his phone; heaven forbid. I use my phone at home via my internet connection. I can find as much info' as anyone, I can make video calls to anyone anywhere in the world, and I can even use it as a torch in the dark mornings. It does everything that other people's phones do, other than being able to phone people from in town (which I wouldn't do anyway), and having to pay a lot of money for the pleasure. It takes reasonable quality photos, and I can send them anywhere at the press of a button. And it also tells me the EXACT time.

I'm very happy with my phone and I believe I'm saving around £100 per month (which I now hear is NOT so) by not having a SIM.

I call that a bargain.

  1. If you think you are saving £100 a month someone is kidding you. Sim card deals cost from £5 per month.

    2. I've just looked again, and between £30 and £50 seems to be the cheapest. I just happened to see one that was around £100.

    3. Look again then. I doubt I could find one at £100 if I tried. Perhaps you don't understand the subject you are talking about. Read Will's comment detailing his deal. Or does Will's comment not show for you?

    4. I can't understand why people pay so much for their phones in that case. Do they 'rent' their phones?

    5. I'll raise you all £4.40 a month!

    6. As I said, I don't believe you understand the subject you are writing about apart from the fact that you have no sim, that we cannot deny.

  2. £100 a month or even £30-50 is very high.

    1. £30-50 seemed the cheapest. Am I looking at the wrong thing?

  3. I'm very attached to my phone. I don't use it very often for phone calls. I prefer messaging, to family here and there. I never go anywhere without it. I feel lost. I use it for photos and for making notes, Instagram and blogging. As long as the photos are ok I'm happy.
Rachel is right, you should be able to make phone calls. I've had to use mine a couple of times to get a bit of help. Nothing major, but it could be

  4. I have a pay as you go Sim that costs me £10 per top up each 90 days. I only call rarely and it is useful in emergencies.

    1. Perhaps I should buy a Sim if it's that cheap.

  5. I pay £9, but I did purchase my own phone, expensive outlay, but much cheaper over the years.

  6. "Everyone has a mobile phone these days, and I am no different..." . Not me mate! I am one of the 6% who do not have one. That's over 1 in 20 but don't worry because we are used to being overlooked and discriminated against.

    1. My phone is a 'static' mobile phone. I can't be mobile with it. It only works at home.

  7. No idea what I pay, and not even sure what make my phone is! I left it to my computer guru to find something for me that was cheap to run, easy to use and reliable. The only constant use is for setting the burglar alarm when I go out, and when I go to bed at night. Other than that I just use the camera, pay for my petrol and use What's App, but voice messages tend to be useless as they are distorted.

    1. That's pretty much what I use mine for, but it costs me nothing. I can't use it to pay for anything though!

  8. If you did not have easy access to Lady M's phone, you might want a full function phone. On second thought, maybe I'm wrong!

  9. You mention that you are unsteady. What if you had a fall or accident on one of your shopping trips. I first bought a mobile phone just for emergencies back in the days when they were just phones. It still goes most places with me for that reason.

  10. Cell phones are expensive in Canada. The cheapest is around $15/month. limited talk, messaging and a few mg of data.

I have a Spanish plan for when we are in Europe. Costs maybe 50 euro a year. The cost to use a Canadian phone outside of the country is eyewatering.
