There are only TWO major Anglican religious festivals in the UK; Easter and Christmas. Christmas I love, but Easter for me is a non-starter.
I do find it strange that the church can't even decide on a fixed date for the event. They have with Christmas, so why not with Easter? It would simplify matters.
Frankly, MY Easter simply means extra Chocolate, and Roast Lamb. Nothing else. Our nearby church holds an 'egg hunt' for the children in the churchyard; but even that is all about Chocolate!
I really wasn't sure for most of my life, but I now know that Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, and not as I used to think; his crucifixion. How this became to be a Chocolate and Lamb Fest' I really don't know. But any excuse for eating and drinking is OK by me, and, I imagine, by most people in the UK!
So, may I wish you all Happy Chocolate Eating, and if like us you will be eating a roast Leg of Lamb, I hope it will prove to be delicious. Our Gigot will be eaten on Monday.

The last day of Passover is here. No chocolate, but you can finally buy fresh bread.
Easter here this year just means more rain!
I'm just back from my big shopping trip and the Supermarket was overflowing with Chocolate!!!
It did 'spit' a tiny bit earlier this morning, but it's OK now. We haven't had any pukka rain for months.
Eggs are a symbol of new life, the empty tomb and the resurrection.
OK, but personally I see them quite differently. Something to have fried, poached, or hard-boiled in a salad.
Lots going on here as you know. We have a lot of work today in preparation for tomorrow and for the ressurection and the breaking of the Lenten fast tonight.

Those days of your school life spent in your beloved Ely Cathedral singing away in the choir obviously did little for your religious education. It makes me think that all those school boys and girls singing in church choirs, altar boys, Kings College, etc. are probably just the same. Such a shame. Ely Cathedral has the Stations of the Cross depicted in the stained glass windows.

Isn't Easter to do with Jesus getting cross about something? Seems to me he was always getting cross. Cross with the moneylenders in the temple, cross with Judas Iscariot, cross with his mum for not telling him who his real father was. Anyway, I prefer to worship Robin Hood - there is more evidence that he actually existed.
I don't know how you find time for all your festivities. They seem never ending!
I think it was BECAUSE of all that time spent singing, etc, that I came to my conclusions. It hasn't stopped me going to my local Carol Service once a year.
We have family with us on Monday. I'm looking forward to it.

I usually find lamb too expensive but as it was less than half price for Easter I bought a leg of lamb. As there are only the two of us we are going to have it on Sunday and Monday and of course have some chocolate too.

We bought a half-price one from Sainsbury's, and this morning I bought a 2 kg bag of spuds for 15p. Bargains galore at the moment.
In attending a Christmas service you are celebrating the beginning of a story, How can you not have been aware of how it ends?

When I saw the photo above, I wondered if the Church is giving out the wrong signals to these youngsters? Is Easter about religion or just Easter eggs. My childhood memory of Easter (admittedly a very long time ago) was of having to sit through a very boring Children's Church service, when all I wanted to do was to eat my Easter egg! There weren't any happy Carols to cheer the proceedings.
