Women, Don't Drive

I am not promoting the message in this video. I'm posting it just for the comedy angle. No, really I am; honest!

  1. Ho Hum. You're a silly sausage.
In my experience women drive better than us as they are more averse to risk.
On a lighter note women have to drive to get us home from the pub.

    1. Luckily I'm in short-walking distance from my pub!

    2. I should have written 'Silly Hostage.'

  2. I just love this, so funny. But yes, Adrian's right, women are usually better drivers, they're just more careful and have spatial awareness. I'm always amazed the amount of men (and women!) who cannot reverse a car using just their rear and side view mirrors. And yes, I know you shouldn't, you have to crane your neck and look over your shoulder as well, but I watched last week one bloke reverse his car half a dozen times to let another car over a narrow bridge...he got it right eventually.

    1. I have to admit, I'm not too comfortable reversing these days. My neck has 'stiffened' and I go very slowly; praying that I don't hit some hidden bollard.

    2. Most of the drivers I know are as happy going forwards as backwards, using side mirrors. Beth is the youngest legal driver here, she's seventeen. She has no problem driving the tractor with or without trailer, the quads, tele loaders or her car but I suspect the interior mirror in the latter is reserved for the application of eye shadow, lipstick and such like, probably whilst driving. A multi-tasker is Beth.

    3. PS. The interior rear view mirror has one more function. It supports a pink hairy heart, a gift from her boyfriend to celebrate her passing her driving test.

  3. Being a self employed caterer I have had 25 years experience driving a van and so am used to reversing on just mirrors. When work has been needed on the van and I have had a courtesy car I found it slightly unnerving seeing out of the rear window.

    1. I think of myself as a VERY good driver. I'm patient, polite, and very aware of everything around me. And I'm never in a hurry.

  4. I am frankly appalled that you have posted this clip Cro! It is alarmingly sexist and an insult to women everywhere.

  5. I'm with Adrian too. Don't knock us. As the 'designated driver' I reckon I've saved many lives many times .
Actually I didn't think it was funny either.
    Times have changed

    1. Of course it was a 1950's spoof, but I think it does represent the actual thinking of that era. I still find it funny!

    2. Really, you find that funny? How very strange.

  6. At least the driver was not looking at her mobile phone while driving.

    1. If they'd had them in the 50's, she probably would have been.

  7. If you added diazepam four times a day that would be my mother

  8. I think women are generally more cautions/polite drivers. Sometimes cautious to a fault. Men can be aggressive drivers and I've seen this cause accidents too.
There is the exception and always some crossover. Where do you fit?

    1. I'm a rather boring driver. I'm never in a hurry, I'm polite, and I'm very patient with other drivers around me. I also hate the idea of my car getting scratched!
