And finally (it should really have been firstly), last year I failed to mention the lovely Annabel Giles who died here in Brighton at the end of 2023. I heard about her death too late to include in my 2023 list. So RIP Annabel, albeit one year late!
And, alas, Weaver from the blogosphere.
ReplyDeleteYes, I really should have included her. Thank you for reminding me.
DeleteCro, I wish you and your family a happy new year, good health and happiness, and to Billy too of course.
ReplyDeleteThank you Yael. May 2025 be more peaceful that 2024. xx
Delete...and Steve Wright, DJ/radio personality. His voice was on my 'most beautiful voices' list, and who once read a letter of mine out on Classic FM. Happy New Year, Cro.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid that he wasn't a part of my scene. I know his name, but that's all. HNY to you too.
DeleteI salute them all and all the ordinary people not listed - the grandmothers and grandfathers, the cobblers, the fishwives, the candlestick makers, the cleaners, the scaffolders, the teachers, the nurses, the artists, the victims of war, the factory workers and those whose fingers danced upon computer keyboards. We are only here for a short while.
ReplyDeleteEvery year I write down the names of those who's deaths surprised me; usually celebs. I agree with you about all us unknowns who deserve mention, but.....
Deletebut... the blogpost would last forever.
DeleteAnd Mr Blogger doesn't have the capacity.
DeleteDonald Sutherland was so much more than MASH.
ReplyDeleteI would add Jimmy Carter and The Weaver of Grass, and echo YP’s comment.
People become associated with one particular role, and it stays with them. In the UK, DS was very much a M*A*S*H guy. I also think it was one of his best roles.
DeleteI would rate Klute, Ordinary People and Don’t Look Now above MASH.
DeleteTimothy West
Janey Godley
Alexei Navalny
Alice Munro
Fran’s Beckenbauer
The lost can go on and on.
My list remains the same!
DeleteHappy New Year xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol. I wish you the same!
DeleteSo many famous names. Health and happiness to us who remain
ReplyDeleteYes, we're the lucky ones!
DeleteEvery year, so many famous { and not so famous } people pass away which is obviously inevitable but it never stops being sad { even though I didn't know any of them ! } I always find New Year rather a sad time. .... anyway, enough of the morbid thoughts ..... wishing you, Lady M and all of your family a very Happy and Healthy 2025 Cro. XXXX
ReplyDeleteI could do with some better health; my fingers are crossed.
DeleteImmortality is being remembered.
ReplyDeleteSadly, it's amazing how quickly we forget.
DeleteWe lose so many good people each year (if we're lucky enough to keep breathing in and out ourselves) I too immediately thought of Weaver Pat and was happy she was also remembered. Wishing you all the very best Cro for a wonderful New Year.
ReplyDeleteI shall start keeping my next year's list tomorrow. I just hope I don't appear on it.
DeleteThat is a long list.
ReplyDeleteMay 2025 bring greater health and happiness.
Happiness is plentiful, it's the health I really need. Thank you.
DeleteWishing you and yours a Happy Healthy 2025!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rian.
DeleteAnd my Pirate. Not well known or famous...but well loved and appreciated
