Dame Edna in the royal box

The inimitable Barry Humphries. Greatly missed.

There will never be another like him. Comedians these days are not allowed to get away with the things he said and did and most of their routines are not much more than swear words, not at all funny.

I'm pleased to hear that you liked him. I know he wasn't loved by all Aussies; many thought he was disrespectful. However, over here he was simply thought-of as a very funny guy.

Such a funny man! I only saw Dame Edna once live and followed the sage advice to not book tickets in the stalls unless one wished to be singled out for a bit of, shall we say, "audience participation".

I did wonder if there would be a separate obituary for Dame Edna when Barry died. Sadly, the obits people don't have that kind of humour. This is a wonderful moment.

A journalist friend of mine (Jock Veitch, see SDH obit) knew him very well, and always said what an all round good-egg he was.

SMH even.

I think I did see one in The Sunday Times.

Ha-ha! And Charles and Camilla were good sports too.

They're a very pleasant couple, we're lucky to have them as K and Q.

I saw Dame Edna in Sydney on Australia Day decades ago. It was a great evening full of laughter.

I can imagine. He was a great entertainer.

That is hilarious. It seemed as if Charles and Camilla were taken unawares.

An extraordinary comedian. The clip made me laugh.

I'm sure they were, and absolutely loved it.

I laugh every time I see it.

He had three personas and I REALLY disliked the Sir Les Patterson one.

What a great comedian he was.
For a moment Camilla looked extremely nervous - she probably wondered what "participation" she and Charles were going to take part in!
I'm sure I remember the first time he appeared on BBC radio - Edna butted in on the Terry Wogan show, and everyone wondered who "she" was!
