Red is the Colour of my......

Why is it that the colour of biscuit packaging tends to be RED (at least they are here in France). I was in the biscuit aisle of my supermarket yesterday, and it was like a sea of RED.

Personally I don't really associate biscuits with RED, but I suppose the packaging does suit them somehow. The photo shows just a selection; we have others, all RED.

I just checked Doug's large stash of commercial biscuits and one brand has red packaging but the rest are a variety of colours.

Aside from Ritz crackers here I can't think of any biscuits packaged in red.

Our biscuit boxes are all sorts of colours. Ritz crackers and McVities ate both red though. Ritz crackers will soon be in our cupboard. Essential for pate

Perhaps we are simply attracted by RED packaging.

Think yourself lucky!

I knew I'd be proved to be wrong!!!

The Ritz I bought for our pre-Christmas lunch nibbles. Smoked Salmon, Caviar, etc. They are perfect; as long as they're whole.

Red for danger, don't eat them too quickly.

Like the idea of pre Christmas nibbles red or any colour.

Red - the colour of passion? Which reminds me, and I hope you'll find this of interest, apparently it's complete bullshit that bulls (think Spain and Hemingway) react to the RED rag. The rag could be any old colour as long as it's waved. In the immortal words of Michael Caine: "Not many people know that". Now you do too.

Market research has obviously determined that red sells when it comes to biscuits.BUT ..... I am obviously the exception to the rule as, in our cupboard, we have a packet of crackers that are in a blue box and a packet of M&S poppy & sesame seed biscuits in a white packet !!! XXXX

I do like a Chocolate Digestive with my afternoon Lapsang.

It's the only time we eat Smoked Salmon.

Someone, somewhere, has decided; red it is.

I waved my red serviette in front of a huge escapee Bull (in toreador style) when I found him in front of the house; he just looked at me.

Some hope!

Take them back at once and demand red packs. We do buy 'water biscuits' in blue; but we're out of them at the moment.

Biscuits are a staple here too. Ritz are a favorite. My biscuit drawer includes: black bean, white bean, garlic and herb, and poppy seed. The boxes are blue/white and green/white with a photo of the cracker and a topping. The Carrs water biscuits are in a black box.

I don't know where you live, but your biscuit manufacturers are obviously ignoring the protocol. Red is advised for everything. Carrs packs are usually blue, have you checked the 'sell-by date' ?

Wow, I had to think now. Here in South Africa, the biscuits are in all sorts of colored boxes. Ritz is also available here. Have a wonderful Christmas, Cro. Regards Jo

We love Ritz crackers, in fact I bought a box of them just a few minutes ago. I think that's the only red box of anything currently in my pantry!

Ryvita about the only ready-made biscuits in my pantry (pun alert!), so yes, 100% agreement on the colour bias. Red for danger? What's dangerous about a Ryvita?
