Chef Clarkson.

Jeremy Clarkson is an unlikely wizard in the kitchen, but he does have some notable recipes.

The above, for example; you can't really say much against it. McVitie's dark choco bix, and a cuppa. Even his recipe and method is easy to follow.

I can also recommend his Pheasant Breast, which begins with having to shoot a Pheasant in the face, or his Aga cooked Lamb Chops with New Potatoes (recipe obvious), or even his Shepherd's Pie where he suggests murdering a Sheep and mincing its innards before frying.

His recipe for Radishes contains washed Radishes; now't else.

These and other Jeremy Clarkson recipes can be found in last week's Sunday Times 'Culture' section (March 1st 2020).

Just pray that he doesn't write a whole cookbook.

N.B. Clarkson is a UK Motoring Journalist.

    1. Surprisingly so as we found Top Gear awful! Did you see the Who do you think you are? programme on him? Very interesting on his family history and himself being natural and not putting on an act for a programme

    2. No, I didn't see it. Maybe I can see it on YouTube.

  2. I love a McVities Chocolate Digestive just as Jeremy describes except I keep mine in the fridge.

    1. We can't get the dark chocolate ones here, so we are forced to buy a French poor imitation. Boo Boo eats most of them.

  3. I have recently found gluten-free chocolate digestives (I'm coeliac). Don't know who makes them for Tesco, but they are good. Can't stand Clarkson.

    1. He's a Marmite person; you love him or hate him.

  4. I am not keen on him. Too much bad history.

    1. He does tend to say things that get him in a pickle. Personally I find him very funny.

    2. By which you, Andrew, touch on the age old question whether the work and the (wo)man are the same. I'd say they aren't. The greatest arseholes in human history have created some of the most divine.

As to Clarkson, let's put it this way. Yes, he does come across as a bulldozer. And that he called Greta Thunberg "a spoilt child" is unforgiveable. On the other hand he is one of those people who I'd be perfectly happy to be stranded with in a hopeless situation. Totally, utterly reliable guy. Not a bad bone in his body - despite what his mouth might spite.

And yes, as you, Cro, say he is funny, quick witted; and he is an incredibly good writer on all sorts of subjects outside motoring.

  5. I am ashamed to say that Jeremy Clarkson was born and raised in Yorkshire...but we are not all like that! You should see my recipe for beans on toast.

    1. I had an aunt who used to make the most wonderful Yorkshire Pudding (she was Welsh). She would pour her batter underneath a big joint of Beef about 15 mins before it was ready.... Best YP ever; but not as they'd make it in Yorkshire.

    2. I am glad to have it confirmed therefore that not all Yorkshire people are like you.

    1. What; Clarkson or the biscuits? I presume Clarkson!

  7. Biscuits Yes. Clarkson most definitely No.

  8. Crumbs! He's good. Even a simpleton like me can follow his recipe though I have to admit a preference for genuinely dunkable plain oatmeal biscuits.

    1. We are slowly becoming biscuit connaisseurs in this house. Unfortunately most of our conclusions suggest we should move back to England.

  9. I said to my husband when I saw what the paper had in store
‘That’ll be a car crash!’ I didn’t even bother to read it because although I love Marmite, J Clarkson I definitely don’t!

    1. I was watching him road-testing a Reliant Robin recently, and I must admit to having laughed more than I have in a long while.

    2. I wonder if those who say they don't like him have seen his books, his writing, his newspaper columns. As Ursula said, he is dependable. He is salt of the earth, funny, a Remainer if that helps, makes brilliant Christmas Specials and you can see great countries and great people he meets and then you get a handful of miserable people on your blog who nebulously say they don't like him. It makes me go off people.

  10. An amusing way to make short work of something good. As I know nothing of the fellow referenced, I could only hope not to be treated as badly.

    1. He used to front a TV programme about cars called Top Gear. He was even tipped as becoming a future Prime Minister (not sure by whom). He has his moments; but not in the kitchen.
