I'd thought that the buzzing was coming from Bees on a flowering shrub just outside the Pump House door, but I was mistaken; they were inside.
Having 'hoovered' the bottom of the pool, I was just flushing away all the dirt from the filter (backwashing), when I saw a largish swarm of Wasps above the door. They were looking at me with menace in their eyes.
Two of them stung me. One just above my left knee, and the second much higher up on my right leg (ahem). I was of course wearing shorts.
So I taught the little blighters a lesson, and sprayed the nest with Wasp-U-Hate. It seems to have done the job.
As I say almost every other day; "If it ain't one thing it's another!"
And, yes, the stings bloody hurt.

They were quite small Wasps, not the usual sized ones. I think their sting was worse than the bigger ones.

Seems to be a good year for the wasps, we've got a lot but I can't find the nest. Fortunately haven't been stung yet.
A couple of decades ago European wasps appeared in Australia and were the nuisance that they are in Europe and Britain, but I haven't seen one for years now, well until we were in the UK.
We are always finding small, walnut sized nests, but they are a different type of Wasp. Some, of course, make their nests underground!
Our problems are more with Hornets. Since a few years ago we have been invaded by Asian Hornets, which are more aggressive than our native ones. People die from their stings every year.
Ouch! We've already disposed of five nests at our house this year. A bumper wasp year it seems.
There is no perfect world, too bad. Enjoy everything else.
Nasty creatures; they seem to attack without having been provoked.
I'm used to such things, it didn't really worry me.
We had a nest in the shed this year. Much to my relief, some spray foam worked almost instantly.
My problem was that I had to go into a small space to spray them, and it was filled with angry Wasps. Still, the problem is now solved!
Yes but what beautiful patterns they have left on that nest.
at this time of year, the Queen stops laying and feeding workers..they are redundant...so they are flying around, drunk on fermenting ripe fruit...a bit like humans in that state, not much use and a nuisance....the rest of the year they help rid us of other nasties...and yes, stings are painful

stings her. She went unconscious last time after some small wasps called earth wasps stung her on the leg.
It really is amazing, and very delicate.
I don't usually take much notice of Wasps, we live in harmony together, but these ones were very nasty and just attacked for the fun of it.
The last time I was stung was on my ear, but these ones went straight to my legs (up my shorts!). I wonder if ours are 'earth Wasps' too?
Bicarbonate for bees and "winegar" for wasps.
I put something on them from a blue tube; no idea what it was. It didn't help.
We have had our fair share of wasps nests ..... little buggers. On the plus side, their nests are works of art . XXXX

The pain of a wasp or hornet’s sting is horrible and you have my sympathy. I hope you got some relief from some medicine so you could enjoy this time with your family.
I try not to think about it; just go along with the pain.
Wasp-you-hate, I'm off to buy some! This week I was stung under my watch strap while gardening. The wasps were coming out of a hole in the ground. They got the boiling water treatment. Hope you get rid of the blighters before all your grandsons arrive.
Wasp-U-Hate sounds very effective. I wonder if they do similar sprays like "Brexit Exterminator" and "Trump Off".
I was having a pee at the workshop once when I was bitten on the knob by a horsefly. It swelled to three times its normal size and itched horribly. I made the most of it by starring in an amateur porn film that evening, but my fame only lasted for 15 minutes. Ah, those were the days.
On the farm, we had wasps and they were fast. Those hives grew crazy fast and unforgiving.

The last time I was stung, it was by one who was guarding his nest in a small hole. I actually saw him flying towards me at great speed, and he instantly stung me on my ear.
It's been three days since I was stung, and they are itching like crazy. My manhood, however, remains the same!
My body doesn't seem to like these stings too much; the two areas have now turned into quite large red patches, and itch like mad.
