Nails.

If I had kept all my nail clippings since I was little, I would by now have a mountain the size of Snowdon.

My nails grow at an unprecedented speed; it is a constant battle keeping pace with them.

Women often used to say how lucky I was, but I never saw it that way. Being a keen gardener, they are always grubby, and need almost daily trimming to avoid things sprouting from the accumulated dirt.

I am aware that nails depend on Biotin for growth, but I'd never previously thought of seeing from where it is sourced. Consulting Dr Google, it seems that almost everything I enjoy eating is rich in Biotin, so maybe I need to change my diet. (Maybe I enjoy eating those things BECAUSE they are rich in Biotin)

I have nothing against my Frankenstein nail growth, but it would be nice not to have to clip them several bloody times a week.

Same here, Cro. My nails grow amazingly fast, and I hate it!

Ha ha, nice to know there are others with the same problem.

Same here. I always seem to be cutting my nails. I looked up Biotin and see that, not surprisingly, it is also good for hair. I do not plan to change my diet.

We must be related.

Do your toe nails grow as fast? They are the problem as you grow older. Seeing what you're doing for a start. They seem to get farther and farther away.

Not a problem I have, two weeks for finger nails, about 6 for toenails. Local Alien is right about toe nails, which is why people of certain age go to places to have them trimmed. A bad back makes it all the harder.

I must check up on this biotin thing.....could do with more hair !!

I just looked it up. I eat all of those biotin rich foods daily and yet my nails and hair STILL grow really slowly so I must be going wrong somewhere. I need a nail trim and hair cut once in three months. Peanuts - can't get enough of them, and sunflower seeds!

It is all in the genes. Forget the buying biotin supplements propaganda. They just want you to buy it.

Christopher Lloyd used to put his nail clippings on his garden. Since reading this many years ago I've done the same. Never taken a supplement in my life. Loathe long nails, especially when varnished.

My nails grow quickly too but I can't bear them long. My daughters have beautifully painted talons but then they don't do any hard work!

Cro Magnon said...

I'm permanently cleaning them!

I know when I haven't been making pots..I have to trim my nails!

Cro Magnon said...

Yes, but I attend to them less. I do a two-weekly foot pampering, which always feels great.

Almost as interesting as your usual comments.

If you had kept all the nail clippings since you were little, I don't think I would want to know you.

You lack imagination.

Cro Magnon said...

You lack Biotin.

Cro Magnon said...

I would hate to have people fiddle with my toe nails.

Cro Magnon said...

Think yourself lucky; all that time you're saving.

Cro Magnon said...

I never buy supplements. Waste of money

Lloyd was an E Sussex man like myself. I suppose I should follow his ways. His garden was superb; it must work!

Cro Magnon said...

Not good for gardening or painting. Too dirty.

Cro Magnon said...

Sounds like you use very gritty clay.

Howard Hughes kept all his piss, you'd have wanted to know him even less.

Never heard of biotin but I heard once, and once only, that eating jelly is good for the nails. Don't know what it does to rest of your body. Not a lot of good I suppose.

Cro Magnon said...

Maybe I've eaten too much of it; I love those little squares of Chivers jelly.

chloe said...

Poor argument. There is one big difference..I'm young and you are going steadily towards your eighty years I suppose You can get as much Biotin in your food as you want .....

FREAK

Cro Magnon said...

Yup; you got it!

Cro Magnon said...

YOU ARE YOUNG? I had always imagined you were ancient; your arguments suggest as much.

Cro Magnon said...

Me too, but it doesn't seem to work on hair; at least not mine.

Graham Edwards said...

That's interesting because I was commenting to a friend the other day that nails (and beard) sometimes grow at an alarming rate and sometimes (usually when one has just broken a nail) they grow really slowly.
