Busy doing nothing.

I've recently finished all my winter projects and for a short while have had almost nothing to do (other than mowing, gardening, cooking, etc).

When one is a naturally busy person, being without a task or two is quite worrying. I found myself just wandering about aimlessly, looking for something to do.

We shall open the pool in a couple of weeks time, so there'll be extra things to be done from then on. I'm looking forward to it.

Congratulations. Having nothing to do is grand. Make the most of it.

You can always go and see the old tractors tomorrow.

We're expecting millions of walkers to pass behind our house, so we'll need to go somewhere!

It's a new experience.

I'm not sure if I can.

"other than mowing, gardening, cooking, etc"...is That what you call nothing to do?! Enjoy the break, Cro which I think you won't allow to last too long; you'll always find something to do.

I can't imagine that you ever have 'nothing' to do, Cro. Not all projects need to be enormous!

When I have 'nothing' to do I cook and freeze or preserve. I've been doing that today though I should have been out, pottering in the garden.

I could find you a job! Just had big works going on in the garden, so lots of replanting/weeding that I haven't been able to get on with etc. to do.

Those are my ordinary everyday tasks, it's the extra bits which I need to keep me busy.

I've been going up to Haddock's and pulling a few weeds, but there aren't even enough of those!

Cro Magnon said...

Thanks, but I'm sure Lady Magnon will find something for me to do before long.

Not having anything to do other than the normal daily tasks would never happen to me, ever! So enjoy the gap in activities because soon it will be filled again!

We don't even have any Hens any more!

Sounds like you need a new hobby. How about trying to identify all the lichens around your place? Take a little hand lens with you, you'll be amazed at what you find!

Cro Magnon said...

Well there certainly are plenty to identify. I'll consider it!

I don't suppose you would consider a little WWOOFing in Derbyshire?

Cro Magnon said...

Don't do that to me Jacqueline; I fell backwards and hit my head on the floor. The whatians?

Cro Magnon said...

It does seem decadent though!

Cro Magnon said...

If WWOOFing is what I think it is, I'd do it anywhere.

It sounds like the ideal time to inspect and inventory your wine cellar. Don't forget to check for freshness.........

Cro Magnon said...

The wine cellar is in rather a sad state. We buy our wine 'loose', 10 litres at a time. Bottles hardly get a look-in these days. Tasting sessions nightly.

I have a broken window that needs to be replaced. Plenty of other jobs around the house, too. Too bad I can't put you to work.

Janie

I think they attribute this quote to John Lennon: "The time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted."

Time to refresh and come roaring back later. ;-)

Wish I felt like that Cro. I look out on the front garden - the daffodils need dead-heading, several of last year's plants have still to be cut back - lots of jobs. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak at the moment.

Jobs all done? The perfect time to reach for a good book.

Cro Magnon said...

Pity; broken windows are a speciality!

I'm feeling a bit lost, but I'm sure all will be OK.

I have an acre or so of mowing to do today, so at least I have that to look forward to.

I've completed an awful lot of crosswords recently.

Yes I really do. I seem to only print now.
