It's official; Christmas has arrived chez Cro, and Minnie/Mickey Mouse (not quite sure which) has been blessed with the most important role of the season (last year we honoured our 'antique' knitted Golly).
We've started a little early this year as our youngest son, Wills, is on a flying pre-Christmas visit from Oz. Unfortunately Kellogg and Bunny have had to stay behind to hold the Mullumbimby fort.
So, we're having a veggie run-up to the big Turkey Fest'; not a bad idea, methinks.
And this is the tree itself.
As you can probably guess, there is now a big gap in our Leylandii hedge; it'll grow!

I love your tree. It's very cheerful! :)
And I sure wish Bunny could be there to see it. I'll bet he's growing like mad!
He's now a chubby Bunny.
What a beautiful photo of the tree. And I love Micky Mouse on top.
Good luck with the veggie meals - I'm looking forward to a meat fest when we return from Oz. I'm sure you're looking forward to showing Wills his future new home.
What, no fairy!
He arrives today (I hope).
He/she has a halo, but no wings.
Enjoy your tree...and your son's visit!
Most of my small family are veggos (not me) so that will be the theme for our Christmas lunch. One year I made a tofu 'turkey'. Never again - it was a lot of work - though it was actually quite good.
That mouse is very Shirley bassey
Press it's tummy and it sings Goldfinger.
I really HATE Tofu. I shall do a mushroom and chestnut 'burger', with traditional roast vegs and Cranberry sauce etc.
He's stuck in Paris, and will now arrive Wednesday.
So. When my invitation to lunch arrives, ignore it. Yes, tofu is one of those things you love or hate. Even some veggos hate it.
I like the sound of your burger. Will you post the recipe, or should I google it? Though sourcing chestnuts might be problematic for me, at this time of year.
Love the tree and the topping.
Don't mention veggie to me - my son is veggie and makes it so hard on Boxing Day when there are eight of us and I have to provide an alternative meal for one. Im not much good with nut roasts and try not to turn to cheese too often.
I haven't really finalised my recipe, but I think it will contain Sage-n-onion stuffing, minced chestnuts, and minced mushrooms, it will have an egg as binding and will be flavoured with Port, salt, and pepper. If it's any good, I'll let you know.
That's the down side to veggie-ism; one ends up cooking separate meals. We don't mind ourselves, as we're quite happy to eat veggie, but if we have guests (as you have) it's a pain.
That is the best tree angel ever!
The painting next to the tree is what keeps catching my eye - someone to help with the higher branches? The veggie option sounds really good.
My thoughts are that if it's acceptable for 2 meat eaters, it should be acceptable for a veggie. Does that make sense?
I'll tell her you said so.
Your tree looks lovely. I know you'll enjoy your surprise early Christmas visit...veggies or no.
You can always re-plant it after Christmas, or did you chop it down? Minnie/Mickey is certainly a novel way to top the tree but we expect nothing less from you. Enjoy your son's visit.
Every thing looks so beautiful.
Chopped I'm afraid. Bonfire material.
I LOVE your tree Cro …… it reminds me of the trees we had when I was young …. very '50's !!
Ejoy your precious time with your son. XXXX
The tree is beautiful and with the boy coming home... what could be better? I too am spying the painting. Is it one of yours. Love it. The stuffing will be delicious; never have eaten a chestnut so I wouldn't know what that would taste like. I bought a jar of them once and they were gummy, not what I imagined they would be.
Your tree looks lovely. I like the angel, we had a cardboard weeping angel from Dr Who on top of ours last year!
Twiggy
Yes, one of mine. Chestnuts shouldn't be 'gummy'. I don't like the vacuum packed nuts (they all stick together), nor do I like those canned in water (nasty), try to find them loose in jars; they're the best.
I love the tree and painting.
Enjoy your visit with you son!
