Doctor Harvey J, and Fireman Ollie, have been busy measuring everything in their N London garden.
They've measured slugs, trees, each other, and countless other things.
Some children play with hand-held, battery-operated, killing games. Some climb trees and swim in ponds. But this devilish duo find fun in taking out the old tape measure and simply 'measuring'.
I've got a great idea for their Christmas (sorry about that) presents!!

I was in the Duke of Devonshire's corner shop yesterday, the Chatsworth Farm Shop, surrounded by the local toffs doing their weekly grocery shopping and an equal number of humble tourists (like me), looking for something they could afford as a treat for tea. A young toff was busy berating his mummy for not letting have a new iphone to replace the one he carelessly mislaid in the games lesson whilst poking his grubby little finger into all the Duke's pies and pastries and his mummy was on her iphone berating daddy for not picking the little beastie up from school to take him to his violin class.
I bought a jar of very expensive fruit coulis with the lid very firmly on and thanked my lucky stars that I can normally shop at Tesco, where the kids are just as horrid but at least they know it.
I bought my nephew one of these as a stocking filler a couple of years ago and it was voted top present by the whole family. In fact the whole street:

I looked at the link, but couldn't really see what it does. I presume it just makes lots of different noises. Trouser tearing, breaking glass, that sort of thing?
That's right.
The nephew thought it was hilarious as he could hide it in his pocket, press the button and make noises.
It's a child thing I guess!
Such fun - how lovely to be young enough to enjoy measuring a slug - of course men rarely grow out of it.
I was a North London gal { Hertfordshire now } and I know for a fact that there are so many measuring opportunities there. I did a lot of it as a child !!!! Aren't grandchildren the best Cro ? I bet they love visiting you and Lady Magnon. I can imagine that both of you make their visits a lot of fun. XXXX

Actually Jacqueline, they're in Herts too; I always say 'N London' so people know roughly where I'm talking about. They live in 'Bishop Stortford'.
We are Hertford Cro and have friends in Bishops Stortford ...... it's a lovely market town and only about 20 minutes from us. XXXX

I've already explained about flat feet, and two left feet, so I suppose that's the next 'step'.
