Lost and Found.

Those squeezed nozzle bits for the Dyson (other makes are available) are always getting lost. I can't tell you how much time I've spent looking for them, often getting quite excited when one is discovered, only to find that it's from a different model, and doesn't fit.

Back in France we have about 5 Vacuum cleaners, different styles for different uses, etc. So the possibility of losing the bits is always present. Here in England, we only have 2 machines (I think), and with the house being so small, they cannot hide quite so easily.

However, I'm pleased to say that I'm not alone is losing these bits and pieces. The super-efficient Kimbo also has the same problems. The whereabouts of the flattened nozzle for his Dyson (other makes are available), has been causing concern for some while. But I'm very pleased to see that he has now found it.

It was in CASABLANCA, at the bottom of his suitcase. He's currently touring Maroc.

    1. Ours certainly do, then we find that they come from another machine and the search continues!

  3. I shan't make obvious comments like "a place for everything, everything in its place". Not because I have run out of words but because sometimes it's advisable to keep wonderment at the ways of the world to myself.

I now have nightmare vision of Kimbo (oh my god, not even he is perfect) leaving that nozzle behind next time he packs up. Not that Marocco is the worst place to be abandoned. Never mind. Hotel cleaning staff have seen it all. And worse.

The tragedy in this sorry saga that, with luck, we all have a purpose in life, not to say a destiny. Even a nozzle.

  4. Ours got stuck between the wall and the wardrobe. I watched as my husband tried to extract it but ended up pushing it further back and then behind the wardrobe. It's still there.

    1. That sounds like Billy and his ball. He loves to lose it under a dresser, then moans until we recover it.

  5. This is amazing but this is exactly what I was looking for this morning. I still haven't found it.

  6. Did it fall into his case by mistake or did he mean to pack it ?!!! We have a Dyson and ours seems to stay in place but, lots of other things go wrong on it ...... I'm not a big fan of Dyson. We have had several and they start off really well but go off the boil quite quickly. Maybe hoovering up builders dust doesn't help !!!!! XXXX

    1. He must have put it there so he knew where it was, then forgot (as one does). I don't think Vacuum Cleaners have improved since the days of the old upright Hoovers with the bag behind the upright handle. I liked those!

  7. I usually put attachments into various pockets rather than placing them down anywhere - more likely to be returned to base that way! From an owner of a tempermental Dyson + others!

    1. We now have a dedicated drawer for all the bits. I'm hoping this will solve the problem.

  8. I don't use the nozzles so they stay in the place where they arrive in the machine. My hoovering is either with the main brush head for carpets and without for corners and edges, chairs etc. Perhaps I have been going wrong with cleaning for years.

    1. I must admit that I don't do a lot of hoovering, but I do like to get at Spider's webs, and into tight edges and corners. Those pressed nozzles are the only thing that works.

  9. I'm sure that Kimbo is holding what they call a sex toy. As you are his father, he's probably embarrassed to admit it. Dirty beast!

  10. Those squashed tubes for the my two Dysons (other makes are available) are found easily but still don't go down the sides of the front car seat to dehair/sand the carpet.

    1. I didn't know that people hoovered their cars; maybe that's why mine looked like a farmyard.

  12. I have a Dyson for downstairs and a lightweight rechargeable for upstairs. Husband has a Dyson in his garage called "The Slut" because it will pick up anything!

    1. I've noticed that workmen often have something called a 'Henry'. A super-efficient machine that should have the same name!

  13. I could send you and Kimbo lots of extra Dyson attachments. I have have owned many Dyson and they fail. The Bernese Mountain Dog hair gets in to the motor and causes failure. My current 2 Shark vacuums are performing well. I am told the hair/dust bypasses the motor and goes directly to the dust cup. Casablanca sounds like a good place to be lost and found.

    1. Billy sheds hair as an Olympic sport. I remove the rotating brush from the serious end of the Dyson, and it works much better. I replace it for the upstairs carpets etc.

  14. After loosing lots of attachments I made a strict rule that as soon as a nozzle is taken off, it must be put back in its place in the body of the hoover. It has worked quite well for the last six months . . .

  15. Why so many vacuum cleaners? Surely one is enough? I have a Miele with only two attachments in a little holder that clips onto the hose, but it's never on there, it lives on the shelf above the cleaner. My previous cleaner was a Hoover and all the attachments slotted into a compartment at the back of the machine. I should vacuum more often, but it scares the cat, who seems to always run away from the machine to the very place I plan to vacuum next, so I sweep instead and vacuum only very occasionally.

  16. I had a good laugh yesterday. In huffing and puffing and moving furniture all around, I moved a hall tree and discovered three attachments for my vacuum. Says much about my house keeping, doesn't it?
