The Perfect Day.

Weekly shopping in the morning. Very quiet roads. Very quiet supermarket. Filled car with petrol, €40. Perfect.

I sowed a few seeds in a seed-bed; Cavolo Nero, Flat Leafed Parsley, and Swiss Chard.

23 C all afternoon. Shorts, tee-shirt, no socks.

BBQ in the evening. Cumin flavoured Breast of Lamb (my favourite cut), with simple salads. Max Marino accordion music in the background. Red wine.

What could be better than that?

Can't think of a thing that would be better than that. Not a thing.

It certainly seemed like the perfect day to me.

Lovely...... we had the same weather. I sat with friends in one friends garden .... we had afternoon tea with homemade scones, cream and homemade black currant jam. it was the perfect Spring day. A bit of normality has returned. XXXX

I'm just hoping it'll be the same today.

It was a rare day (in these strange times) when everything seemed to go perfectly. Not too many of those around.

As you say, PERFECT.

Nothing. Nothing could be better than that. Simple pleasures in good health. Just being alive.

Living the dream, long may it last.

The 'good health' being the most important bit. Without that all the rest is less appealing.

Sounds perfect indeed. We are having rain and wind.
Shorts, t shirt, BBQ, red wine and good company. Life is good

Not much could be better. I don't know what breast of lamb is, but no matter. It's so good that at your age you can still sow your seeds.

Rain and wind?? Someone lied about the Greek isles.

Cro Magnon said...

Breast of Lamb is cheap, delicious, and extremely tender. Probably the best cut from the Lamb.

Breast of lamb is good but remember to remove the membrane on the inside. A rag soaked in boiling water does that quick sticks.
Any lamb is good but my favourite is shoulder with the neck included. If I'm getting one slaughtered near Christmas I rub it with honey as they can get a bit sour as they age. Hanging helps.

Cro Magnon said...

I agree with you about the shoulder. The leg is the favourite amongst most people, but apart from being the most expensive cut; it's not really the tastiest or the most tender. I'll stick to the Breast; the thin end.

Lamb on a barbecue - perfect. (I may actually be drooling!)

It's the best BBQ aroma. I love it with Cumin too. Almost a Mechoui.

Not a lot - all sounds perfect.

That sounds like a good plan. We will get your weather in two days and I am looking forward to it.

We don't get that cut of lamb here, which is strange as lamb is much beloved. Looks divine!

What is it with the sentimentality of accordion music? I've chanced upon a very good accordionist a couple of times busking outside our local train station, and I always think misty-eyed of France!

Simple days are often the best. I don't like complications.

Here it lasts until next week, when we might have some rain (which we need).

In the early evenings we always sit outside with a pre-supper glass of wine, and I play some quiet soothing music. The simple sound of accordion music in the background is perfect, and is one of my favourites. Max Marino is excellent.
