The UK's 'University and College Union' (UCU) has recently spoken (in tongues, I expect).
They want everyone to be able to 'self-identify' as whatever colour, gender, or with whatever sexual orientation, or even disability, they wish.
You're getting excited; I can see!
So, if you were born a black, female, 4 ft, one armed, lesbian, you could now be a tall white hetrosexual male, who is able bodied. Hooray for that!
One advantage of this otherwise seemingly bizarre idea, is that Companies, or their Boards of Directors, who are accused of being too white, Christian, and male oriented, can now instruct half their employees to become female, white, Muslims..... Problem sorted.
As for me, I've reluctantly decided to continue as a tall, white, male, but (please) with the added good looks of a young Adonis. However, I'm told the Adonis bit is a bit far fetched, even for the UCU.
N.B. Just in case you were wondering, in the photo above, those are two black males holding the banner, accompanied by a Wheelchair bound Asian female coffee drinker.

The daft thing is such idiocy is supported by those in charge.

Had it been a comedy sketch we would all have laughed; but it isn't.
I wonder how that will work when we have to describe people to the police?
I imagine the same would apply. Just make-up whatever suits your mood; remembering to scold them if they get your own gender wrong.

It originated from what would previously have been judged a fraudulent act. In this politically correct world crime is on the road to extinction along with the planet.

Many students seem to spend more time on PC matters than they do on anything else. Even in my own days some of the Union representatives were desperate to find things to moan about.
Truely, we do need diversity of people to represent the diverse population but I am unsure about how that should happen.
The UK's attitude towards crime these days is very odd, and very disturbing.
Their attitude is almost insulting. Very blinkered.
It certainly won't happen by me saying I'm a black woman.

Sadly I have to agree. I would prefer to see everything wise-up, rather than dumb-down.
I'm glad you mentioned the coffee. I thought herm was shaking the collecting tin. Gender neutral toilets are appearing hereabouts. I recently went into a toilet to discover that somebody had had a dump in the urinal. Here many things are far too confusing. Take a look at one I posted earlier.
So many things are changing on account of PC fanaticism; no doubt there'll be a big reversal one day.

So presumably if the law allows you to identify yourself as having a particular disability the DHSS will not, reductio ad absurdum, be allowed to challenge that. I'll have a nice disability grant thank you very much. I don't think so!
