Back to the old routine.

The Chestnuts are in flower. Hay is being cut. We're swimming again. Wasps are making a nuisance of themselves (so are the bees that were brought in to harvest the Chestnut pollen). The excess fruit from our Bramley tree is falling like hailstones. The Oxalis continues to annoy me. Haddock's is blooming. My mower (Rory) has now been repaired. Everything will soon need watering. The outdoor wooden chairs have all been oiled. Still a surfeit of Tayberries. Pure blue skies. BBQ in full swing. Life is good. Freddie has overcome his fear of dogs. Grapes are swelling on the vines. There's a strong smell of newly cut grass in the air. Boo Boo can now recite the alphabet; not necessarily in the right order. It's hot.

That's about it.

If Chloe tries to hijack this page again (see yesterday), please ignore her. She's obviously going through a bad phase.

One perfect day in an idyll.

Kim and Sophie are now living together in reasonable harmony. Some sun would be nice.

What a marvellous summery picture you paint. All is well with your world.
And you must get the greatest joy from listening to young Boo Boo. God bless his little cotton socks

The meteo looks a bit surreal. Ain't it great?

It's all looking good at the moment, and should last a while.

I think his age has a lot to do with it. Yesterday Bok's girlfriend came to visit, and Freddie sat down next to her. Previously he would have been upstairs in an instant.

Our two have come to an agreement. Yes, what a difference some sun makes.

The Summer Solstice is living up to its word.

Cro Magnon said...

All that and Boo Boo too.

Apart from the watering we'll have to do. Yesterday all my vegs started to wilt.

Every thing is so beautiful and calm, you are blessed.

It sounds and looks wonderful Cro! Your pool's water has a beautiful colour. Sweet Boo Boo.

I don't like wasps.

For the moment all goes well.

It's only a small pool, but it's essential at this time of year.

Cro Magnon said...

Since they brought in the Bees, we are more pestered by them than Wasps. They don't think to give them water, so they head for our pool.

Gwil W said...

I like to see bees. When they are absent I want to know why.

Cro Magnon said...

Lady M has already been stung once by them. We like them, but not when they misbehave.

Sounds and looks idyllic. And remember, Cro, as I said the other day, each paradise has its snake or two, in your case wasps and oxalis and, dare I mention it ... (next paragraph).

I will admit, and I am not looking forward to it (lie), that I am waiting with baited breath for the time when that container holiday park near you will open. I can see, hear and smell your foaming with outrage posts NOW ... Why am I laughing - in anticipation?

You haven't mentioned it for a while so I assume it won't be open for business this summer. And here I am, every morning, thinking "Any moment now ... all hell will break loose".

Sunshine greetings,
U

This post has a distinctly positive air Cro. An improvement on the previous week or so.

He has been very discreet through winter and spring, but Lady M says she's recently seen him down one of the holes fiddling with things. It looks like he's started the work. We shall be watching very carefully.

What a difference a day makes; especially when the sun is shining.

A cafe in Te Kuiti in NZ has a marvellous thing in their back garden..a bee fountain..pumps water round and it flows down through pebbles. The bees go for this and don't drown. Good food and coffee there too!

The World sounds good with you.
Solstice Blessings...enjoy!!

Tom Stephenson said...

Yes, today is the Solstice. The days will now get shorter by 3 minutes every 24 hours.

Cro Magnon said...

Thank you. The Solstice is always a good occasion.

Cro Magnon said...

How very depressing, and there was me thinking how perfect the days were.

Ursula said...

Just enjoy, Cro, for what is now. Tom has a way of putting a dampener on many things - not least me; not that I am a thing. But yes, every 21st June I too feel that slight, momentary pang that from now on days will start to shorten again. But it's imperceptible (at first) and soon I'll be buying Christmas tree candles. Again. Let there be light, Cro. Whatever the season.

I envy you that hot sun and that pool
Cro. Here there is a sharp wind blowing and it has blown for days.

Summer has definitely arrived here. How long it will last is another matter!

You are one of the lucky ones. You can find joy and peace in the simplest of things and see beauty in everyday events. I am an artist too and I think we see and think a little differently!
